Unemployed at time of AOS interview?

We filed for AOS one month ago.

The company I work for (Tribune) has filed for bankruptcy and is implementing all kinds of cost-cutting measures, including layoffs. There is a strong chance I could lose my job sometime before we receive notice of AOS interview.

If this happens, and I am unemployed at the time of the interview, what happens? Would I have to seek a co-sponsor or something? Obviously the USCIS would not want to make someone a permanent resident whom they believe the government would have to support, so how much does this jeopardize Svetlana's chances at being approved?

It may have no effect at all. You have already submitted your financials and in our case, they did not ask for any updated ones at our interview. Just evidence that you were jointly sharing your money by having a joint checking acct., joint utility bills, joint lease, joint health insurance if applicable, etc. etc. The usual things married people have.

I know we're OK until they ask something.

And I was thinking that they might bring up my job to Svetlana at her interview (to make sure we are a bona fide married couple).

"Where does your husband work?"

"What does he do at this job?"

Things like that.

Just depends on who you get for the interview. I lost my job of 8 years in Nov 2008 and we had the AOS interview for ShaSha 6 days ago and the guy asked and I told him I had just got my Real Estate license and that was it. I just didnt tell him anything he didnt ask for (like I lost my job 2 months ago). You had a job when you sent the application so they may not even ask. I would talk with someone you know to have a sponser just incase they ask but if not just dont say anything.
