Hey everyone,

I'm flying to China at the end of the month to be with my fiancee during her interview.

My question is: If I make more than $80K a year and have sufficient evidence of that (2008 Tax Return), do I really need a sponsor?

Thanks,

Dan

You do NOT need sponsor with 80K!

If you only have 2 members in the household then it is more than enough. So you do not need a co-sponsor.

The income requirements depends upon the number of the household members. All in all the rule is to have an income which is 125% above the poverty guidelines. I could say that with 80K you could even support more than 8 household members.. :wow:

You ARE the sponsor. Good luck.

If you make 80k and can support it with a w-2 and/or employment letter you need nothing else.

Don't you have to show three years of tax returns?

No. It is typical, but not even required, to show ONE year's tax return at the interview. For the AOS you will attach ONE year's tax return and give a statement of earnings for the two prior years. Unless specifically asked, you will never provide 3 years tax returns. You should be prepared to, but it is unlikely.

As you are well above poverty guidelines you do not need to list any other assets, bank information, nothing. Give supporting evidence of your income and leave it at that
