My foreign fiancee and her daughter have received the K-1 and K-2 visas from the embassy. Due to extenuating circumstances, there is a possibility that we may end up actually not using the visas. If not, is it important to notify the embassy? Are there any steps that are advisable for her to take if we are going to withdraw from the visa process?

OK I don't mean to pry, so ignore me if this is too forward, but what happened?

I'm pretty sure you don't have to notify anyone, as long as those visas aren't used to enter the US they will expire after six months and that will be that.

Unless there are extenuating circumstances that compell you to close your options, I wouldn't do anything until about the time the visas would expire. You wouldn't want to regret cancelling them. The visa expire six months after issue, if not used. If used, they die immediately anyway.

Thanks for your reply.

We are currently exploring the possibility of me moving there, but nothing is definite yet.
