I know that maybe I should post my question someplace else, but here all of us are going through a very similar situation. I was wondering how are you dealing with the wedding planning?? cause we are definitely not following the "normal" path and the actual date it’s going to be one of the last thing we will know for sure.... after the interview, Its weird for me cause I’m planning and having constant brainstorm of ideas, I’m working on my dress and a bunch of things to keep me busy and away from staring at the timeline when I’m not working hehehe. But I don’t know if I’m working on time or not, cause I don’t know when the wedding it’s going to be :( I do have the place!! Yay :)

So how about you? How you deal with the planning from far awayyy?

come on NOA2sss keep on coming!! ^_^

Hey Joy!!!

You're definitely not alone in planning things without exact dates. It's really funny now that you've pointed that out hahahahaha! Although there's not much preparations needed for ours as we prefer it to be very simple hehehehehehe!... I would suggest though to start with an estimate date of approval... and then work a timeline of all activities you want done till that time...in any case it would be beneficial to prioritize activities that pose longer time lines (e.g. dresses - as the shorter the timeline for this the more expensive?) Or if you want it another way, you can draft a timeline starting from the time you arrive in the US, then start from there... having completely planned on your preferences and collected presourced options. :) I hope this helps though... :D:D:D I hope you'll eventually have a smooth wedding plan!!!

I hope more NOA2s to come our way too!!!

Not sure where else to ask this question.

I know it is still early in the game for me since I don't even have my NOA2 yet, but somewhere on this site I saw a list that tells what steps to take next. Like what to do as soon as she is here in the states. Marry then file for a S.S. card or get the card first then marry and have the name changed later.

Reason I ask is 'cuz she wants to hit the ground running and start working as soon as she is here. The other is (and I am crossing my fingers) is that we hope she will be here before Dec 31 and get married before filing for my taxes of '09 in April. I am going to get hit with a pretty heavy fine filing single and claiming myself as a dependent again.

H & R block said if we are married before Dec 31 I can get an I-10 for her or something like so she wouldn't even need a S.S. card when I file.

Thanks

They recommend you wait 2 weeks to file for your SSN once arrived, as it takes a bit of time for the paperwork to get from the POE back to USCIS and to have it entered. They can do a manual SSN, but the problem is that can take up to 12 weeks if she isnt in the system yet. And then you have to do the AOS paperwork and file the I-179 for her at the same time, which is the work approval. Takes about 3 months to arrive. Only then can she legally work, so she will be sitting and waiting for a bit. Since you have to wait a bit to get the SSN anyway, if you get married right away she can get it in her married name without having to go back to the SSN office to change stuff. Will be easier on her DL and everything too. Sucks I know, but no POEs are giving out work authorization anymore as its only suppose to be for people who are coming in to work for a specific employer to get so they can start working right away while the rest of their paperwork is pending.

Not really sure on the tax stuff, if thats what H&R says will work, I would try that.

What's DL?

So time line . . . get married, wait about 2 weeks, file SSN, wait 12 weeks then file for AOS and I-179?

You don't have to wait for her SSN to file AOS and I-765 (sorry got the form number wrong the first time), you can do that right after you get married, I was only mentioning it as she needs both to be able to work. If shes in the system it might not take the 12 weeks to get her SSN, which you can then include, but if it does, you can have her work auth request in while you wait for her SSN as well. You're looking probably about 3 months for her to be able to work once she gets here unless theres a screw up at the SSN office.

I told her I don't want her to work right away, maybe take 2 or 3 months to relax, taking her around, maybe even watching some TV and movies to listen to more english then just mine.

Haven't seen an updated list or any one said if they received their NOA2 yet, so maybe well get a few this week, keeping my fingers crossed for all of us still waiting.

I'm hoping there was a huge mail truck fiasco that made every truck suddenly not able to drive off the mail lot and that is the only reason people havent gotten their NOA2's yet, because they needed to get 30 new spark plugs....or something...its a bit rediculous seeing 14 for the whole month of april so far.

I just wanted to drop by and wish you all good luck! I've had a really hectic week but I just want you all to know that I'm keeping you in my prayers! I hope those NOA2s come soon!

Regarding the SSN - I've read some posts saying that it's better not to wait until you're already married before filing? I think it's because they'll have your maiden name in the system?

Jim got a letter from the NVC a couple of days ago saying that the U.S. embassy should contact me soon and send me info about how to apply for the K-1 visa so he's preparing the documents I'll need. We want to make sure we have everything before he mails it out ---

I have a question about the Form 1040 (income tax return) and W-2 (wage statements). Do we need the originals for the interview or will photocopies do?

Hello! Seems I am losing any patience now. Can anybody tell me why the current processing date for K1 california on this site started moving backwardS? It was Feb 9th, then 6th, then jan 29th, now Jan 9th? How is this possible and what this means?

Oh NOA2, where are you???????????

I also have my mind set that it takes between 120 and 160 days for NOA2 so I have marked on my calendar July 27th. If it goes past this time, then I will start to worry, make a few phone calls and write some letters.
