I am a Green Card Holder, i have lived in the country for the past 5 years.

But now i am attending school in the carribean.

I come back every 4 months for 2-3 weeks.

Last time i was re-entering the immigration office was really putting me through the ringer with all his questions and basically told me that i have to file this

I-131 form or i will lose my green card.

So you have to be in the country to file, it usually takes 90 days to process the app and then you have to go for biometrics... problem is i can't just leave school to go for my biometrics appt.

also, it states in the instructions that if you stay outside the US for less than a year you are not req. to file this form and that a green card is enough for re-entry.

So do i really have to file I - 131?

Also, if i want to preserve my naturalization and become a citizen, do i have to file n-470?

I'm a little confused, any help is appreciated!

Thanks,
