Hello Everyone,

I have an I-751 (removal of condition pending), Clifornia Service Center received my application on 10/16/08, and they have sent my a NOA I-797c which says "your conditional resident status is extended for a period of one year.during the one year extesion you are authorized employment and travel".now I am planning to go to Egypt for two weeks, am i going to be ok re-entering the US with my expired Green Card and the I-797c?I know it is written that I am authorized to travel, but I want to make sure that I won't face any troubles or delays comming back, Thank you so much.

Moving this to removal of conditions forum, you are not applying for a CR-1 or IR-1 visa.

Many have posted about this, and NO problems re-entering using the extension letter and expired GC.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

Hi,to answer your question you will have no problem coming back from egypt for sure, i went to Egypt last year with my Extension notice and i just had to explain to them that this is an extension for the green card in the airport in cairo but otherwise in the states it's ok, i have been travelling with this paper for a while. so you will be fine. Came back with my wife with her expired green card and extension, was shocked when the immigration officer recognized her one year extension, nobody else knew what the hell it was. He commented that at least we applied for the I-751, said you will be surprised at the number of people that don't and try to come back with an expired green card.

If your one year extension is about to expire, up to you to make an infopass appointment and either get a I-551 stamp in your current valid foreign passport, or bring two passport photos for an I-94.

Last trip, wife used her US Passport, man, what a difference that made. It wasn't welcome to the USA, it was, welcome back.

Obviously my husband is the only person to ever have any problems coming back through on an UNEXPIRED green card......we won't even take the risk of travelling now that it's expired.

He must look shifty- LOL.

See my timeline for all previous dates!

Naturalization:

6/28/09: Mail N-400 to Texas

7/6/09: NOA1

7/24/09: Biometrics

01/22/10: Oath Date

With thanks to all the helpful people who made this journey slightly more bearable.
