Hey Steven, did up buy it using a credit card? You may be able to use the extended buyers protection that comes with a number of credit cards.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

I was about to say, if it's a VIZIO i understand but Philips is a good brand...i guess it's just bad luck

sorry 4 u

What is wrong with VIZIO. I had a VIZIO 32" for over a year now and I did not have any problems with it, and did you know SONY makes them?

So dont say sony is better then VIZIO cause they are the same :)

Consumer Reports says Samsung and Sony are the top rated LCD HDTVs so I guess they are saying the brand names are better  According to research on the Internet, Vizio is made by Am Tran Technology LTD from Tiawan

Sorry to hear of your bad luck Steven.

Yet, I am still convinced that you "get what you pay for".

Therefore, we paid $1000 for the Sony HD LCD television and expect nothing but performance from this product. So far, exceptional performance, nothing less.

Spend the money for the superior product FTW or plan to replace it.

I talked with a repairman over the phone this morning and he said it sounds like the systems control panel needs replacing ($200) plus $100 labor. It's a Philips 32" LCD 720p that we bought back in November of 2007. Philips had sent an offer for an extended warranty right after we purchased the TV and I tossed it aside. It's been a great TV otherwise and the repairmen says they're good TV's. I guess it was just my bad luck.

goose did it! :jest:

it's things like that which make me make major purchase with my credit card, as my credit card extends the warranty by a year. keep that in mind in the future.

If your credit card has a special program coupled with it (i.e. miles, points, etc), then making major purchases on it makes even more sense. Might as well get something back if you're going to purchase an item.
