congratulations on losing 22lbs. how much more do u wanna lose?

I have a goal of loosing 100 within the next two years. I weighed 292 my last doctor visit. According the the health scale, my BMI at 20 to 22 would be the best but that would put me at 170 pounds, that may be too light. I am thinking about 195 or so. I am 6'2"

After going to the doc last month only to find out I am the heaviest I had ever been I decided to get serious about loosing weight. I probably have gone to the extreme by am following the general guidelines for healthy eating.

I am very excited because this time I have been able to loose weight and am currently, as of this morning, down 22 pounds. Woo Woo

Big congrats to you!!!!!!!

Losing weight is a really tough thing to do, but if you commit yourself you can do it! Make sure you're not making crazy changes that you won't be able to keep as lifelong changes.

I've gained and lost quite a bit of weight (more than once) over the past 6-7yrs and the one thing I found that helps is never deny yourself anything. If you want something just eat it. If you deny yourself you're just going to binge out on it eventually.

Thats the key, life long changes. When I get to my maintenance weight I will need to experiment with calorie intake so I can maintain it. The last time I lost weight I went right back to eating the wrong things and, the worst thing, too big of portions.

I am basically following what is listed here: http://www.changingshape.com/dietandnutrit.../plans/1517.asp

I am just eating around 1200 calories a day instead of 1500

I would check with your doctor to make sure that 1200 a day isn't dangerous for you at your weight. That seems quite low for someone your weight. I weigh 167lbs and I eat 1800 calories. I do exercise A LOT so I need a bit more calories to balance that out. At 1800 calories I'm still losing weight even at my weight. Obviously I'm a lot younger than you so it's easier for me to lose weight than it is for you. I eat 5 meals a day that are 360 calories each. I eat every 3hrs. I can eat whatever I want as long as I eat only 360 calories. Another thing I do is one meal a week I can have whatever I want. The amount of calories don't matter. If I want to go to the chinese buffet and eat 10 plates of food (I can't do that though lol) I will go to the chinese buffet and eat 10 plates of food! The thing I tell everyone is think of it day to day. You only have to make it until you fall asleep that night. The next day is a new day :)

Do you also exercise regularly or just plain healthy eating?

I should be working on my weight too.

Congratulations to all the losers :). Seriously, good job. I would consider what Amber is saying though, she's a smart cookie when it comes to things nutritional (and other things too of course :))

I have to ask, what happens after these 'contests' to lose weight? Do people stick with their new healthier life styles, or just heave a sigh of relief and return to their old habits?

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Good job and good luck with the rest of it! That's really fast.

I am trying to lose just 15-20 pounds. It's kind of annoying because as soon as I give up on trying to lose weight I all of a sudden seem to lose a whole bunch but as soon as I NOTICE how much weight I've lost it all comes back. Plus, I automatically lose weight during the spring and summer due to change in activity. I just need to figure out how to lose the weight AND keep it off all year round. And since I love sweets so much I wish to not completely eliminate them or anything.

I've seen those people who were on The Biggest Loser and a lot of them have said they only lost so much weight so fast because they were dehydrated! Then there's the one guy who won and has gained almost all of it back!

That's sad, because a lot of work goes into that kind of weight loss. I don't really think much of having these things televised and competitive. I would much rather see more education going into good nutrition and TAX (yes, I said it folks) on certain pseudo food items. I have to say though, I am not quite sure how it would work...

I found something about the guy who gained weight back...

though third season 'Biggest Loser' champ, Erik Chopin, lost a remarkable 214 pounds on the show, he has gained half his original weight back. Weighing in close to 300 pounds, Chopin says once he stopped getting attention from the show, he fell into depression and stopped exercising. He sat down for a candid interview with Access Hollywood to talk about yo-yo dieting, body lift surgery and getting his weight under control.

When the show originally aired, Chopin was the center of attention and media coverage, having went from 407 to 193 pounds. While in the public eye, he kept his weight maintained and even underwent a dramatic body lift surgery in 2007 to get rid of the excess body fat, sagging around his waist. During the surgery, doctors removed over 10 pounds of skin.

The Long Island native told Access Hollywood that once people stopped caring about his weight loss, he fell into depression and quit exercising. "I started to feel cornered and trapped. I started to put weight back on, and it just continued," he said.

"The weight started to creep back on... I felt like I let everybody down, first and foremost my family," he said, stating he is currently weighing in over 300 pounds.

On Monday, Chopin went public about his relapse on 'The Oprah Winfrey Show.' He admitted that seeing her talk about her yo-yo dieting and weight gain made him feel like he was not alone.

Now he is finally ready to turn his life around before his weight gets "out of control," he told Oprah. While he doesn't expect to get down to 193 pounds again, he admits he just wants to be healthy. "This time I am not going to get involved with a number. I want to be healthy and fit," he said. "I just got back from the gym. I feel psyched. This is awesome," Chopin said, citing his cycling classes as a great weight loss exercise.
