After going to the doc last month only to find out I am the heaviest I had ever been I decided to get serious about loosing weight. I probably have gone to the extreme by am following the general guidelines for healthy eating.

I am very excited because this time I have been able to loose weight and am currently, as of this morning, down 22 pounds. Woo Woo

Well congratulations!!! I on the other hand have been trying my best to lose weight for the past three years... and then, all of a sudden when i am about to give up, it's finally shedding off... But way too fast, my family's getting concerned. Is there something wrong with me?

I am just following the general healthy eating guide lines. You know, the grains, veggies, fruits, keep the grams of fat low. One thing that is helping is using a calorie counter and keeping track of what i each each day. I have only been doing about 1200 calories a day which is really low but when I was doing 1600 I didn't have any results.

Here is a pretty good link: http://www.changingshape.com/dietandnutrit.../plans/1517.asp

I have also tried to eliminate as much sugar as possible so don't drink juices, sodas or use any sugar for my coffee.

i experienced a similar pattern yrs ago. i joined a gym, started a regular workout plan, and adopted better eating habits (but not best). i didn't lose a lb for the longest time, then, it seemed like i lost 15 lbs overnight. i've been able to keep most of it off but still fluctuate due to my lack of self control. i tried diet pills in the past to decrease my appetite, but won't touch them again since i buried my cousin yesterday who took fen-phen in the 90's and developed a heart condition that took her life. dieting sucks.

This has to be a life style change for me. No more fast foods or going out to eat, at least not very often. I have a goal to loose 100 pounds over the next two years and then find the proper calorie intake that will maintain that weight.

I found the best weight loss program. It's called stop bending your elbow, but I would not recommend it. Starvation is no way to loose the weight. Hopefully, you can reduce the starch intake as well. But anyway, CONGRATULATIONS !

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

I have been...but at much slower pace than you. 22lbs took me a few months. Lately I have sped it up a little more. That's ok for me though. The long slow way for me is better. And I'm not going to never eat chocolate or bad foods, I just don't as often. Definitely wouldn't call it a diet.

22 pounds in one month!? Wow... slow down there Jasman! Before you know you'll be down to nothing. :P

I think a lot of this has to do with water weight, I have tried to cut out salt. I love salt so that is hard. If I don't loose this belly fat it is going to cause a lot of medical problems. I have big plans for retirement so need to be healthy

The dietatian whipped out a rubber model of what 5 pounds of fat looks like. Ugh  I have about 100 pounds of that ####### on my body that really isn't necessary  Been living the good life of frid foods, fast food and bad influences :P Claudeth is going to have to start doing something too

Congrats Jasman :) I am trying to lose weight too. I joined Weight Watchers, as it has worked for me in the past. So far, I am down about 10 pounds. It's funny for me, because during my pregnancy, I ate incredibly healthy, really cut out sugars, salt, etc. and only gained about 18-20 pounds overall. Lost most of that right after the birth. Then, as my son had surgery at 2 months, I completely gave in to the stress and began eating total junk food and gained the weight back. So now I am determined to eat healthy and do things in moderation. For me, if I tell myself I can NEVER eat something, I am more likely to eventually overeat that food, so I eat healthy foods and occasionally have chocolate or something else like that.
