I am the USC. My finacee is ready to make his medical appointment anytime. Only one problem though. He is depending on his mom to drive him to London for everything. She says the she cant take him for the medical until some time in April. Now, I'm trying to be as patient as I can be but this sounds completely unacceptable to me. He doesnt seem to want to make the effort to find other ways to get to this medical sooner. I'm sure the interview will be as difficult to find transportation as well. (A little background, he's not working currently and doesnt have a car of his own, nor would he drive by himself)

This situation has caused a huge fight between us, so much that we arent speaking today. To me, it seems that he doesnt care enough to get here and be married as fast as possible. He seems content to wait months and months. He hasnt even concidered an option other than his mom driving him. He thinks I'm being unreasonable for feeling this way. So I am I being unreasonable?

I know England has trains into London or some other kind of transportation. Anyone know of a link that I can look at to find the pricing? He lives south of Birmingham. I'm guessing maybe if I send him money, he'll get his #### on a train but who knows.

ugh stupid computer it messed up my post. i just wanted to say i hope you two get this resolved.

You're not being unreasonable at all...and he certainly shouldn't be relying on his mother. I have neither car nor family (as I'm estranged from them), but I've managed to figure out the rail and bussing network between where I am and London. Once you get in, it's really easy to navigate via the London Underground to get to Knightsbridge.

Tell him to get off his bum and to find an alternative route! If he says there isn't one, then you have permission to stuff live weasels down his pants.

Driving is probably the worst way to get into London - unless you live very close and do it on a regular basis and are used to it. Public transport is a far better option in my opinion anyway.

Get your fiance to use the links posted by Rocks to book himself either a bus or a train, it really will be far easier.

I'm with English Muffin - I wouldn't even consider driving into central London. The traffic is horrendous, the parking charges are sky high and not to mention the congestion charge!

His Mum obviously wants to keep him near her as long as possible!

Also, check out the Megabus Website www.megabus.co.uk . Depending on where he lives you can sometimes get tickets for as little as £1 Good luck and I'm sure lots of people here will sympathise with arguments arising from the frustration of distance and waiting

London has one of the best public transport systems in the world- there's no excuse for him not getting there before April. National Rail's website is great and we had great experiences with MegaBus in the past. Once he gets into London, he can plan out his route on TFL's website

Best of luck!

I agree with everything everyone has said, even the weasels! Train and tube are by far the easiest and quickest ways to get into London. I certainly wouldn't dream of driving, the last thing you need is elevated stress levels before the medical and interview.

Might it be worth him booking his medical for the day before his interview and staying over in a hotel? I know his visa approval will be pending on the medical results but it means only taking one trip.

This is a joke, right!!??? Erm, I live in Birmingham, and it really couldn't be easier to get to London by train. In fact, I'm going down there at the end of this month to hang out with stinkey monkey & wifetobe, and it's cost me the grand total of £10!!! The trick is to book in advance!

Am I missing something here

You the usc is sorting out his travel arrangements ................and his mummy has to take him to the medical, sorry but I would also be so angry about it

Is his mummy going to bring him over to the states, or do you have to come and collect him

Sorry if I sound harsh, but is he actually ready for marriage

I know you love him but I would think long and hard about it

Thanks everyone for your replies you've been very helpful.

Stinky - I have thought long and hard and there's only one way to find out. We just have to go for it, take the plunge. I would rather give the marriage and relationship a chance then walk away and never really know. He's the sweetest man in the world (maybe a little shy) but I think he's worth it.
