So I bought this whey protein, a huge container almost a year ago. I usually have only 1 tbsp (i used to have more when i was working out). It expires today. Usually most things I don't eat after expiration date, meat, dairy, etc. But this time I was thinking, how can they know a year ago that it would be not good on an exact day this year.

So I am wondering how much longer can I keep taking.

i'd say if it's still powdery and looks and smells the same as it did last year, go for it! but, wait....you're pregnant, so maybe wait until it's only possible to make yourself sick.

Another option which was missing is "expiry date, FTW: it'll be long empty (and container recycled or used for storage) by then".

As long as it doesn't smell rancid.. I'd keep using it..

Those things tend to go stale or bad faster than I can use them.. if it still smells okay.. I wouldn't worry about it!

Simple ways (read uses/misuses) around that:

• mix into dough when making breads, or coatings
• dump into uncooked, unbeaten eggs (or substitute) when making omelets or scrambles
• mix with ricotta cheese for that layer in lasagna
