R.I.P. Abe. Your actions and decisions also helped create West Virginia. I am forever thankful. If I had to say I was born in Virginia the strain would be more than I could bear. (F)

RIP Abe. Hope we never have a president as racist and tyrannical as he was.

Yep, a real racist wasn't he? Equality and freedom for all.

Equality and freedom, eh? Perhaps you need some additional education.

"I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been in favor of bringing about in anyway the social and political equality of the white and black races - that I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people; and I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe will forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality. And inasmuch as they cannot so live, while they do remain together there must be the position of superior and inferior, and I as much as any other man am in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race. I say upon this occasion I do not perceive that because the white man is to have the superior position the negro should be denied everything."

Source? And even if true, his actions proved otherwise. You pick one statement to change the perception of a man who is highly regarded and respected in history. Perhaps you need some additional education? Or course you are right and historians are wrong.

Just because he is respected in history, and is spoken fondly of, doesn't say anything of his intentions.

But why would a man, so well regarded, be recorded saying such statements that seem to contradict what we are taught in school?

There was a bigger cause to why Lincoln went to war, and it's not slavery.

On a side note, I'm sorry if I came off as a #######, I apologize.

No problem. And why should one work out of thousands be used to tarnish a man so highly regarded? Face it, you can find articles that state that Jesus was an evil man. Does that make it so? And who had a tape recorder at the Lincoln-Douglas debate to provide and a verbatim quote?
