Hello Guys,

I need to confirm my thought process with you guys.

I paid $ 400 for IV fees on Monday and that part is done. Now I just talked to NVC office and the person told me that now I can submit civilian forms (i.e Marriage, birth cirtificate, police clearance etc.) with DS 230 and cover sheet. Is that true? And what does it mean by ''DS 230 genearation" ? I am reading a lot about that on this forum..

I thought NVC will send document package in mail to applicant and only then we can send these forms.

Yes, that is true. The $400 bill is for the visa and the DS-230 is the visa application which they will review along with the civil documents they're requesting.

Any time a fee payment is processed the NVC will generate a coversheet for the I-864 and DS-230, these coversheets are just instructions the Choice of Agent needs to follow in order to have their forms and documents processed. Most people follow shortcuts found here on VJ to save time and if they hear that a form has been generated, they will take the shortcut and generate it themselves, this eliminates waiting for the actual instructions to arrive from the NVC.

You can find a list of civil documents in these two DOS links:

http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/reciproc..._3538.html#docs (in this one, just change the country on top of the page)

You can download the DS-230 here and you can find the instructions on how to generate the DS-230 coversheet here. Remember, you can only follow the shortcuts if you're sure the NVC generated the DS-230. If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself, then you can wait a week or two for it to arrive. Also, remember that you will have to have all the civil documents ready to send along the DS-230.
