N400 question part 7

Hi,

a very simple question for the citizenship application based on US citizen marriage... so if the spouse spent only 3 years in US what does this person answer to the Part 7 question: "Write total number of days you spent outside US during last five years"

does one have to write 730 days?

and for the part B, how do those two years before coming to US (out of asked five - since 3 years is what it takes to become eligible) count?

You only count the days since becoming a US Resident (Green-Card holder) you do not count the days before becoming an LPR.

They know this because you check "B" in part 2.

I hoped so... one should try not to assume anything with those guys... hence was my question

I crossed out 5 and wrote in 3 - others have done it before and have been OK. Since they do not make separate forms or have a means of checking a 3 year box etc. - this seems to be an easy way. Good Luck

This was exactly my question - thank you! So, we only need to count the days since becoming an LPR? I will also file for citizenship based on 3 years of marriage.
