I don't like what she said either. Very poor customer service. Waleed tells me don't sweat it on the visa either. Did you expedite your Egyptian Visa and go through the San Fransisco Embassy? I know I can buy a tourist visa at the window there but I already have one resident visa in my passport from before so I'd rather just find out at the window if they just give me the resident visa there. The day I got my resident visa for six months it was the same day and some official building there Tahir Square I think? That famous busy one in downtown Cairo.

Yeah, she was really weird. My hubby went to ask her for a pen and she told his guy next to her that he was stalking her. She didn't think Khaled heard, but he did. He wasn't stalking her obviously, she is at her job, she is supposed to work? Really weird. I felt so bad for Khaled though, he was trying to stay polite the whole time because she is older than him so he was being respectful. But she was just... ugh.

I mailed my passport to the consulate in Chicago. I've did it that way for the last four years and they always return my passport within a week and a half. This time actually I cut it really close, but no worries as it arrived on time. :]

You should go to the consulate if it is nearby you and see if they will give you the visa there, and ask them if you can enter with your marriage certificate. I don't see why they wouldn't. If they can't, just get the tourist visa maybe just in case they don't allow the hubby thing? I heard that Egypt isn't allowing foreigners to buy tourist visas upon entry anymore. But I could be wrong.

The one I went to was in Alexandria, so congratulations I think there is no way you will get that evil lady! :innocent:

Ok so your story started getting me nervous and I went and looked it up at the website.

http://www.egy2000.com/ft40l.html

There are two types of Egyptian visa:

· Tourist Visa: is usually valid for a period not exceeding three months for single entry and six months for multiple entry.

· Entry Visa: is required for any foreigner arriving in Egypt for purposes other than tourism, e.g. business, work, study, etc. The possession of a valid Entry Visa is needed to complete the residence procedure in Egypt.

Egyptian visa fees do not apply to the following:

· Holders of diplomatic passports.

· Officials of international organizations and specialized agencies and state delegates to conferences.

· Arab League officials.

· Non-national spouses of Egyptian nationals.

· Non-diplomatic personnel of diplomatic and consular missions affected in Egypt.

· Parents, siblings and adult children of members of the diplomatic and consular corps affected in Egypt.

USA (ordinary passport holders) and Canadian citizens can get a visa from our consulates abroad or upon their arrival to Egypt.

Any Egyptian citizen holds foreign passport will be granted a courtesy visa after declaring proof for Egyptian nationality like Egyptian (passport, personal or family identification card or birth certificate), also the foreign spouse of Egyptian national will be granted a courtesy visa after declaring a proof of their marriage.

The American citizen (holding American ordinary passport and not any other kind of documents) who does not have enough time to obtain a visa before traveling to Egypt can obtain it upon arrival there (The departure from the arrival port will be delayed for some time until obtaining the visa).

So I should get an Entry Visa free of charge when I get there! Yipee!

But if I were to mail it all in it would take 2 business days to process they say and I would mail it here for my state:

* Send it to Egyptian Consulate General in San Francisco if you’re resident in:

Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming
