I have a friend married to an illegal. They recd. nao1 from a previous petition, had an appointment at the embassy in mexico, did not show up. What choices do they have. Any way for him to become legal.

I don't think I understand the question. Is your friend's spouse currently in Mexico or in the US? Did the spouse enter the US illegally? Why didn't they file for AOS?

More info needs to be given out to try to understand the situation a little bit better.

Since he entered illegally he will be banned from the US for at least 10 years. He can apply for a pardon and see what happens but 1. he should hire a different lawyer or ask his present lawyer why he was missinformed. And 2, he needs to go to the US embassy for his interview because that's the only way he'll get at least some more information.
