Hey guys.. I need some opinion on this matter.

My hubby and I got married 2 weeks ago and the chapel we were married at, they were the ones who filed the license/certificate for us. They are telling us that the County Clerk is backed up at the moment so we shouldnt expect it until about 5-6 weeks after!!! That's just crazy... Can I give the County Recorder Clerk a call? Can we apply in person there again?? I think 5-6 weeks is too long, I will have to adjust status, my I-94 expires mid april and then the SSN in my married name so we wont have to go back again to change name.. any suggestions??

Yes, you should call the County Clerk's Marriage Department and see what is going on.

5-6 weeks is too long!!

I got married last week on Friday and went on Monday this week to County Clerk (called them first to make sure) to pick up my certified marriage licence.

Hey JeremyK,

I'm in California, Married in LA County to be exact.

I know.. 5-6 weeks.. geez... that's quite a torture for them to record our wedding or any wedding...

5-6 weeks? imagine how many signatures that clerk will have to make??? Yeah, I would say go to the office and talk to someone... explain the situation to them, and see if they will make a special case.
