Name change/new-card takes a couple of weeks - however, may not be able to do so until EAD or PR/Green Card arrives, depending on your timeline.

Name change/new-card takes a couple of weeks - however, may not be able to do so until EAD or PR/Green Card arrives, depending on your timeline.

We had to wait until Claudeth's EAD arrived and then it took another six weeks to receive the new card.

To just get the SSN record correct it can be done overnight once you go to an SSA office with the required documentation. Now to get a card in that name could take from days to months, since your immigration status needs to be verified before the card can be issued.

When we went to change Claudeth's name, even with the EAD, they said they would have to receive verification from the USCIS and it took six weeks to get the card
