Gurus, please help with filing I-765/I-131

Hello EAD/AP Gurus!

I need some help. Case: L1 transferee, I-485 is filed for family of three in Nebraska SC. I want to file for 1 EAD for me and three AP's - me, my wife and son.

1. USCIS says no filing fees are required, which means to save some bucks I should only file in paper, right?

2. If I file in paper, should I send 1 EAD and 3 AP forms in same enveloped to the same address?

3. I-131 instruction tells me that if I am L1 holder and I-485 is filed, then I do not need to file for AP. Does it mean I still can? What is the typical explanation I need to attach?
