For Filipino applicants:

Do we need to provide BOTH a Police Clearance from our hometown(s) and an NBI Clearance? I lived in the same place since I was 12 years old, got an NBIC when I got my passport, and now got a new one too. I don't understand why the local PCC would still be needed when the NBI is nationally recognized.

Re: IV Packet and Interview docs:

I've been reading in several Embassy sites' instructions. They often say make photocopies of the WHOLE package since they keep copies (and they don't have copier service) after the interview. I'm confused. I guess NVC will return the IV and I-130 packages to us and we make copies for the interviwe later?

Well now I called NVC and the operator, Sarah, said they need the Philippine NBI clearance only for the interview. NVC itself only wants my Thailand PCC. She also said "You need to time that one" about the NBI clearance, meaning don't get it too soon so it'll be valid by the time of interview. Now what? I'm getting my Bangkok PCC next week. Can I just get my NBIC later and forgo the local PCC?
