It all depends on the USCIS Official! When Mariya and I went for the interview a month ago we went back at the same time and stayed together the whole time! I did see cases before us where the husband and wife went together but then they took one out to the lobby to ask one of them questions seperately. The reason they would do this is to make sure its a real marriage. If they decided to seperate you they might ask you questions such as how many windows are in your house? They just want to make sure it is a legitimate marriage.

They normally interview you together. If they feel things aren't right they can call you back for a Stokes interview and you will be separated. They ask things that only people living together would be able to answer consistantly.

We had our AOS interview at the St. Paul office, also.

It was very relaxed, we were together all the time. I (immigrant) was asked the standard questions from the form about arrests, last entry into the US, date of birth, place of birth etc. and my husband was asked for his place of birth (he was born on an air force base in France).

Once that was done, there was just some general chit chat about living in Minnesota vs. Germany, all very easy.

My name check wasn't done when we had the interview, so the lady told me I had to wait for that to be cleared but would then be approved.

Try not to stress too much, all will be fine!

It depends on the officer. Here at the local office, according to my lawyer, they separate 50% of the couples. If there is any red flag (e.g. considerable age gap) there is a greater chance of getting separated. Getting separated at the first interview does not mean it is 'Stokes' interview, which is usually the second interview conducted in cases where the officer has a strong reason to believe that your marriage is a fraud.

At the discretion of the officer, he will either separate or have you in the room together.

My wife, the USC, was interviewed first, while I was in waiting room. Then she came out, and I was interviewed. Then both of us were brought together.

12/17/08.........Married

7/28/08..........I130, I485, I765 Receipt Date

7/31/08.......... I130, I485, I765 Notice Date

8/20/08.......... Biometrics for EAD and 485

11/25/08.........AOS Interview in Tampa, FL

1/12/09...........USCIS mailed Notice of Intent to Deny. Evidence: Conflicting statements made by USC spouse at the interview to proof to officer that the marriage was bona fide.

March 2009......Received Denial Notice of I-130 and 485.
