Does the I-129F slow down the I-130 ?

Hi gang,

Just wondering if anybody knows anything about this. When you look at the Immigration Timelines (like today), the K3's being processed at the CSC are at 11/08 ... whereas the CR1/K3 at the CSC are at 10/13.

Does this mean the the K3 slows down the processing of the CR1?

Also, we have decided to pursue only the CR1 and not the K3 ... any special we need to do? I'm guessing after the I-130 NOA2 is received and you start sending back the required info, they pretty much can tell you are going for the CR1 ... but I could be wrong.

They are treated like two separate things so the I-129F does NOT effect the speed of the CR1. None of the times are set in stone... they are a VERY rough outline of when people are seeing responses.

You pretty much have it right. You hurry up and wait for the NOA2 after you file the I-130. It looks like the K3 as of right now are getting approved only about a month before the CR1's

The I-129F and I-130 are processed together through USCIS, as you can see from the trend of approvals over the last few months, both petitions are getting approved at the same time. California seems to be processing petitions pretty quickly.

If you are going to do the I-130 (CR-1) route in the end, you shouldn't file the I-129F

I have spent an exhaustive amount of time studying all this data. I agree that these days, the K-3 is a waste of time AND actually delays your CR-1 by up to 2-4 weeks. This is because THEY DO process them together. For example, even though we got a 11/28/08 NOA1 on the CR-1/I-130 our processing will not follow along with those that only have the I-130. Our K-3 NOA1 was received around 12/22. I am sure that is debatable and a bit hard to measure, but I see others further back in the line that await their turn when the CR-1 only pass on thruough.

Those that don't have the K-3 (CR-1 only) are getting approved quicker (60 - 80 days) as compared to those that have bothIR-1/K-3 (90 - 180 days).

When we started this, the K3 seemed like a better choice for us. The primary thing was getting our family back together as soon as possible. Over the last month or so, we have decided the CR1 ... even though taking longer ... would be the better way to go.

What also got me thinking about this is the recent approvals by VJ members with NOA1 dates close to, if not later than our NOA1. I talked to a CSR at USCIS today expressing some frustration over this and all I got was the "boilerplate" response that petitions are processed as they are received but that some take longer than others.

I am very happy for those who have been able to get there NOA2's and wish everyone success through the NVC. I think the time & distance from the woman I love so much has actually gotten harder on me these last couple weeks. Now that others around us are getting approvals, the tension and stress level waiting to hear about our case has skyrocketed
