A friend of mine is applying for the Green Card and is preparing the i-485 documentation.

He needs to write lots of information about his Visas, entry dates to the US, I-94 information.

He already got a new passport but unfortunately all the stamps, the Visa and the i-94 card which were in the old passport are lost.

What does he do in this case?

Does he have to write the word "Unknown" where asked in the application? Or any other word or abbreviation?

Or is there a place or an institution where he can obtain all this info from?

Has any of you experienced the same problem and what did you do?

My friend is from Bulgaria and he married a US woman.

Thank you all for taking the time to read and respond to this post.

It will be required. Find out what happened to it, get it back or apply for a duplicate. Gonna cost a few bucks.

Hi again.

My friend found the i-94 card. Luckily he had it removed from passport and kept at home. But he did lose the passport.

He doesn't know anything about the Visa.

I-485 requires a couple of questions about the visa to be answered.

Non immigrant visa number. And Date Visa Issued.

He has no idea about these two.

How does he find out, or should he write "Unknown" in the application?
