K3 approved in London on Monday

Hi everybody, my K3 was approved in London on Monday and I received on Wednesday. I also want to give hope to people who have a criminal record as I had an arrest for shoplifting and I was approved without a waiver. We arrived at the embassy at 9.30am my interview was at 10.30am they let my mother come in with me as my spouse could not come from the US due to work schedule. We took our ticket and waited and waited and waited. Finally at about 12 noon we were called to a window and I had to give my marriage certificate, financial support documents of my husbands and my police report with my brief that my lawyer had prepared, also my birth certificate. About 1 hour later I was called to another window and they asked me:

Where is your husband at the moment?

Did you marry while in the US under the Visa Waiver Programme? I answered yes.

How long is it since you saw your husband?

What happened when you were arrested, I answered that I admitted the crime and was given an official warning.

Then he looked at his computer screen for what seemed like ever and there was this awkward silence, and I started to get worried about it. Then he said "I have good news for you today there are no problems and you must now go and pay your courier fee". I was so excited, then my Mum and I went back to the hotel and drank champagne and then went to the musical Mamma Mia in the evening which was great.

I have not slept properly for months as I was convinced that I would need a waiver because of my arrest. Whether or not the brief my lawyer prepared for me helped or not I dont know. But it was worth the 500 dollars I paid for it anyway. I want to take this opportunity to thank everybody who helped me on this site with endless questions. I am sure I will need help with the AOS and think my husband and I will try to tackle AOS without a lawyer if we can.

Hi ,congrats!!

I too was cautioned for a minor offense (shoplifting) when i was 17,I am now 28.

I am told that after 5 years this wiped as should not be shown up on Police check. I too still feel worried that this might come back to haunt me. I hope it wont,I dont think it will but still......................

anyone have experience of this??

The best thing to do is send for your Police thingy and see if its on there, and only start to worry if it is by the way your police "Thingy" is good for a year!!

I have sent and feel fairly confident that it wont be there.Have spoken to the police,looked up the info etc etc I was under 18 so it was a reprimand I believe now opposed to an Adult caution

but you know when something just niggles at you and I suppose until I see in print I'll feel better then.

Having said all that though, I think as it was just a caution, & not a conviction it would be ok anyway!!
