Hey guys,

I was reading a lot of forums regarding RFE(s) and the reasons for them. One particular subject that caught my attention was the amount of physical “proof” we need to provide when submitting the K-1 visa. Probably, just like all of you, my fiancé and I have provided a LOT of proof for our relationship. However, I have read in some cases there has been a “lack of” proof when it comes to pictures and e-mails. What is the right amount of pictures/e-mails we should provide to avoid getting the RFE? Any knowledge you guys can provide can greatly benefit couples in this stressful process!

Thank you :o)

Not many people get RFEs from the initial K1 filing. You only have to prove you've met IN PERSON in the last 2 years. Emails and chat's don't have much to do with that. A few pictures of you guys plus hotel, plane baggage receipts will do. Copies passport stamps also.

Main thing is to have all the blanks filled and the forms made out correctly and SIGNED.

Also pay the correct amounts.

Evidence you are in love and have a bona fide relationship will happen at the embassy interview.

Correct me if I am wrong...Moldova uses the embasyy in Kiev Ukraine for interviews, yes? They did, I am nt sure if it is still the case. Kiev is very easy to deal with. At any rate, I can only imagine Moldova would be easy to deal with also. The stories you read are usually from other countries which have high rates of visa fraud and are very careful and particular about this. Moldova and Ukraine do not have this problem (or if they do, they are not treated that way)

For the petition (I-129f) a photo and some travel documentation that supports your story of meeting is sufficient. For the visa, at the consulate, some photos, emails, travel documents, western union receipts and phone bills will do the trick

yea...they use the embassy in Bucharest.

to the OP...you should be fine...since during the petition part you only have to prove you have met within the last 2 years. chats and emails etc come at interview time

Getting an RFE is a matter of following the instructions and not leaving anything out that is clearly listed as a requirement on the I-129F instructions. It's really the least of your worries in the process. Preparation for the interview is where the evidence of a bona fide relationship like pictures and communication evidence and most important evidence of spending time together is needed. The foreign fiance(e) needs not only to be prepared with evidence but prepared for the interview itself.

Since you've already filed a petition there's not a thing you can do now to avoid an RFE.

I guess there is no such thing as “too much” evidence for the interview. You’re right, after the petition has been sent; there is nothing you can do to avoid a RFE (if the information sent was incorrect). But correct me if I’m wrong, I don’t think the USCIS explains how much evidence they actually want when submitting your petition. Because of this, I started to worry that maybe we didn’t include enough evidence to support our relationship being bona fide within the past two years. Hopefully we followed the instructions, provided the evidence…and everything will be ok!

Thank you all for the replies!

USCIS does not give a ratz azz about bonafide relationship evidence... that is optional evidence and the consulate is charged with that determination. The USCIS is simply trying to make a determination as to the eligibility of the foreigner to apply for this particular visa type.

If it is any consulation, I submitted ZERO relationship evidence. My entire I-129F was simply designed to fulfill the requirements of eligibility. That I am a USC, we both were free to marry, we intended to marry within 90 days and we had met within the previous two years. Period.

YMMV
