Anyone waiting for an interview at the Vancouve Embassy?

Betazed- Congratulations on your approval! What time was your interview on Thursday? I was there around 2:30 pm to pick up my Visa, there was a whole bunch of people there waiting that I had seen at the medical a day earlier! I had to run and catch my flight so I didn't have time to chat! I got stuck in the long line out front for Visa pickup...then I realized holy ####### these people are just picking up Visa's in the lobby...not having to go all the way upstairs to the 20th floor, I need to ask if I can cut in line and the guard let me through. I have heard sometimes they don't. I was exhausted and not thinking straight.

Hm, I had my interview scheduled at 1:00pm, but we all didn't get out until almost 3:30pm, so you most likely saw me in that room. I was the one in the corner with the blue striped dress shirt & black slacks. My aviators were hanging obnoxiously on the front buttons of my dress shirt.

Funny enough, the next day when I went back to pick up my visa, the guards almost didn't let me in either. I think it eventually clicked that I was there to pick up my Visa, and after a couple seconds, they let me through. No wonder the Consulate agent told me to emphasize that I was to pick up my visa and not line up.

Cool Beans!! I just got an email from Travelzoo for a special of 40%off on that hotel!! I have until June 14th to book to get that price, and am waiting to talk to a friend that may be in Vancouver around the time I'm there, so she may have plans for me to stay somewhere. Otherwise I'll stay at the hotel. It's in a perfect spot!

Sad note though...Tim isn't coming up after all....:crying::crying: He's decided he'd rather put the money toward the wedding. Gee, is the wedding really that important  I know I'll be fine, and we probably don't have too much to worry about. He does fall short of the 125% guidelines, but has way more than enough in his IRA to add to his assets. *crossing fingers*

Oh my goodness, it's less than 3 weeks away!!

Hoping someone will come by with an answer for me.....

Taken from my instructions on the check list for the Consulate

"EVIDENCE OF SUPPORT: K1 and K3 applicants are subjects to INA 212(a)(4) and must demonstrate to the consulate

officer’s satisfaction that they will not become a public charge. Applicants may submit a letter from the petitioner’s

employer or evidence that they will be self-supporting. The Form I-134, Affidavit of Support, may be required when the consular officer deems it useful."

Ok...the self supporting issue. I'm confused. I have a house to sell, and I don't have a mortgage, so my pocket change is going to be pretty healthy. And obviously, I won't be spending it all in a month!! I was planing on bringing evidence that I own my home, and what it's worth, and that I'm selling it.

Just curious as to whether or not that would be accepted. I'll have the 1-134, and all Tim's information, (his assets, etc.) But it did state that form MAY be required. Feeling like Alice in wonderland here...."curiouser, and curiouser...."

TimandJoyce- I am not sure about the self-supporting information for the I-134, I wish I could help you. If Tim's income meets or exceeds the poverty level guidelines you should be okay, but again maybe someone else would have a better answer for you in the US Embassy and Consulate thread.

Steve&Shannon- Good luck with your interview tomorrow! Let us know how it goes!!

At the interview, they will ask you where tim works, how much he makes, any assets?.... i freaked out about this too b/c i didnt have I134 as it wasnt on the checklist but i brought as much evidences from my husband that we are over the poverty line (ie. pay stubs, letter from employer) and that was sufficient for them. So if you have money in the bank, then that's a bonus.

the reason they ask you this and want to make sure that you're over the poverty line (and may request I134) is to make sure that you're eligible to be approved for I-864 ... that's what the lady from consulate told me.

Thanks Borderdriver! I know Tim falls short $3000, ( a huge chunk yes...)...but from what I've read he only needs 3x the amount in assets and his IRA is almost double for that! *whew*. Plus, as I've said earlier, I do have my house. His is completely paid for too. So technically, if we had to, we could sell it too, and buy something cheaper, (condo etc) because he has no mortgage either. This I know...I WON'T need assistance of any kind. I've lived below my means for so long on my own...(with no government help) that I really don't know what my means are!

Ok...I'll just go to that interview and SMILE!! Gotta act confident!! :star:

I was wondering about WHEN we get our interview date how hard/easy is it to schedule the medical exam?

Is it better to have it the same day, the day b4 or after?

Thanks for your input.

The medical exam is only done on Wednesdays, you can request your interview for whatever day you like. I had my interview on a Tuesday, medical on Wednesday and it worked out well for me. Alot of people decide to have the medical first, then interview on Thursday or Friday, those days are probably the most popular and take a few weeks longer to get an interview date. Some people even do it all in one day, I would have gotten too stressed about doing it all in one day though.

If you live in the Vancouver area you can do the medical early as well, as long as you have your VAN case #, the medical is very quick and painless to schedule. The clinic in fact has a website that is new and has all the info. www.wokingmedical.com. The receptionist is very good about responding to emails and voicemails left on their line.

Hope this helps!

Our file arrived at the Vancouver Consulate yesterday, so we're just waiting for the P3 before we get to the medical and interview. I don't think there will be much of a back-log on the interview side, because they've only received three (including ours) in the last few weeks. That makes me hopeful that we'll get an appointment within just a few weeks.

Anyone else expecting a late-august early-september interview or medical in Vancouver?

Right here  The consulate got my package on Wednesday and shipped me packet 3 on Friday. As soon as I found out packet 3 was sent I faxed them back all the stuff. Hoping to find out my interview next week and get in early September. Late August wouldn't give me enough time to notify all my employers.
