How does the embassy "contact you"?

"Wait to be contacted by the embassy"

Do they phone? email? snail mail? Batsignal? Telepathic waves? Pretend to contact and do nothing??

What mode of communication to they choose? What to expect? Contact petitioner or foriegn spouse?

thanks for any input if you've crossed this step.

HOHO - disregard the comments from the morons from other countries. Where exactly are you in the process?

The Jakarta embassy contacted me (the USC) and my wife (beneficiary) by email. Including Packet III with all of those medical forms.

Interview notification also came by email, to me, (USC) not to my wife. They CC'd (copied) my congressional caseworker in the email.

K visas and immigrant visas are all handled by the IV, not the NIV section, of the Jakarta embassy, even though they are non-immigrant visas. That means you cannot set up the appointment yourself.

They took about (2) weeks to interview after the package arrived from the NVC. Statistically they beat almost every other embassy.

Questions? Call them directly. Continue calling until you reach an American aka bypass the locals on the switchboard. Send me a PM and I'll give you a name of a guy from the Consular section who helped us. (assuming you are the USC?)

the answer will depend on the consulate... and as you found out... the best answer comes from someone experienced with your particular consulate

YMMV

Advice? this is not knowing where you are in the process....

Request your packet III by email now and schedule the medical / get the police cert as soon as your NOA2 comes in. They (the embassy) won't lose the records - especially if you give them a heads up that it's coming.

Get the packet III paperwork together after getting the police cert and schedule a "documents check". I requested Packet III it by email and did documents check in OCTOBER (laughing) even though our approval wasn't until the end of November. I was there in Jakarta for a visit, so I asked, and they allowed us to do it.

They schedule an interview as soon as the medical records arrive and the documents check is complete. Since we had done all of that before the package arrived from NVC, we got interviewed a few days after they received the NVC stuff.

Hope that helps.

Well at that point of NVC has completed case ( for almost 1 month).... police certificates were already gotten long ago.

I was just in jakarta in december, but unfortunately things continue to drag out.

Just trying to anticipate what to expect (expect, as the whole process nothing to get done for 7 month chunks of life at a time)...

Newbie? (laughing) Whatever. I was just helping someone by sharing information. Go cry or tattle somewhere else.

To the OP and others who are passing through this particular embassy:

THIS is how the US embassy Jakarta contacted us after receipt of our approved petition:

Mr. XXXXX

This is an official notification from U.S. Embassy Jakarta regarding your approved petition.

U.S. Embassy Jakarta have received an approved XXX on behalf of XXXXXX

Please forward this information to beneficiary and have beneficiary complete the attached forms and submit them to the embassy within 4 months.

<<Document Preparation for V or K3 Interview.doc>> <<Police Certificate Information.doc>> <<DS-230.pdf>> <<List of Panel Physicians.doc>> <<DS-2053.pdf>> <<DS3024.pdf>> <<DS3025.pdf>> <<DS3026.pdf>> <<Photographs Requirements.doc>> <<Sworntra.doc>>

Effective October 16, 2006 all visa applicants need to complete the electronic DS-156 form.

The EVAF DS-156 can be found at https://evisaforms.state.gov/ds156.asp

Please note that you need to prepare two copies of the completed DS-156.

Please visit the Immigrant Visa Section (Window 4) in the Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta for a document review by our staff. Once the document review is complete, we will schedule you for the interview.

The Consular Section is open for document screening from Monday - Friday from 7:30-11:00. You do not have to make an appointment for the document screening.

When communicating with this office either by telephone or letter, please provide your name and case number exactly as shown in this letter.

Regards,

Immigrant Visa Unit

Your appointment is scheduled (in our case 2 weeks after) the same day you turn in your documents. In our case the document review was completed (2) months before we received the email so it was a matter of just turning them in (the documents), getting the appointment same day, and attending the biometrics and interview.

Disclaimer: The term "moron", though warranted, has been removed from it's original placement after the words "somewhere else" in this post in deference to sensitive feelings

Maybe he's K3, indeed it needs a non immigrant visa to come to US and file AOS in the US right?

Anyway snail mail is really bad. My wife just got DS-3032 yesterday, was sent by NVC on Jan 20.

That is the immigrant visa application. It was in our packet III which also came by email. We had to fill out (both) the non-immigrant and immigrant visa applications. the best thing to do? Ask the IV consular officer. I was only sharing how we were contacted....
