I am a little confused. I live in Canada and my spouse lives in the USA. When it comes time for the interview for the CR-1, do I have to go to a consulate in Canada or can I do it in the States? I think the only consulate in Canada that does a CR-1 is in Montreal. Is that correct? It would be easier for me to go to the US to do it, is it possible?

You would have your interview in Montreal. I do not think there is an option to do it in the US.

I haven't filed my I-130 yet since I am still gathering information, but hopefully in the next few weeks. Do my children who are moving to the US have to be at the interview?

Don't know about the children; it may depend on their age? Perhaps if you post this on the Canada forum someone can help. I know there are members there that have been through the process with children.

How old are your children? If you plan on bringing them to the US and they are under the age of 18 then they will need to have their own I-130 filed for them and they will have the same (hopefully) interview date as you.

Children who were under 18 at the time the marriage took place will need their own I-130 filed and depending on age, will need to attend the interview and get a medical. Children over 18 at the time the marriage took place do not qualifiy for CR2 visas.
