More and more lately I am reading posts stating how stupid the USCIS is or how stupid the US government is. :ranting: Is this really all necessary? Ok, I will be the first to admit, I hate going to the social security office, the DMV, dealing with the USCIS or any government agency for that matter. BUT, compared to the rampent corruption of some country's governments, is it really that bad here? Can you deal with a few mistakes or the bad attitude of the lady at the SS office? We live in a free country where, yes, you can speak your mind and say what you feel. But again, I ask , given the freedoms that we all have and everyone who has immigrated here now have....is it really necessary? If you make a mistake on your visa petition or get an RFE, if it's your fault, its YOUR fault. Be an adult and correct it. Of the millions of petitions and applications they deal with each year (and growing), are they really that bad? Embrace America and all it's freedoms and most of all , TAKE IT EASY! :dancing: Just my thoughts. What do the VJ members think??

Because we are free to bash the Govt all we want. The Govt is not America, we are.

why do you hate america?

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Never got an RFE but USCIS and Homeland Security are Keystone cops. They scheduled the biometrics on near a holiday, Dec. 24, and postponed it. The Social Security office still hasn't mailed a card after 5 months of waiting. There's no incentive for these slugs to do a better job because they get paid the same either way. In fairness, it's the lawmakers who made the laws so we voted for this mess.

You should see a DMV office in Australia.

Do the toilets all swirl the wrong way?

Nah, our toilets don't swirl.

I did notice the Aussie style toilets are being sold at Sams Club.

I know the Canadian government is just as screwed up as the American one.

Here's what they've done to me:

1. Spelled my name wrong on both my PR card and my Social Insurance Number. They refuse to change my name on the PR card since they say "that's your name." I've only had my name for 29 years. They've known me for less than a year. But... what do I know, right?

2. I was able to get my Social Insurance card changed, but to correct THEIR mistake, I had to pay money out of MY OWN pocket.

3. Since I'm importing my car up here, this freaks the government (and all associated agencies) out. I call up Transport Canada and they tell me to go to the Registrar of Imported Vehicles. I call up RIV and they tell me to go to ICBC (BC auto insurance). ICBC tells me to go to CBSA (Canadian Border Services Agency). I call up CBSA and they tell me to go to Transport Canada.

Sometimes I do agree. My point was just that some here make mistakes on their petition or fail to prepare properly and then come here and go on and on about how America sucks. Just an observation.

Personally I cannot complain. Every part of our case went smoothly. But I can note that almost ANY inforamtion one gets from the USCIS will be wrong. The timelines are a joke and the online updates I signed up for still say our petition is "received and pending" My wife already has her green card! Ask any question, if you can wait on hold long enough, and the answer will be "about 6 months". Provide all the paperwork goes as planned, there is no porblem, as far as being able to deal with the public or give meaningful useful information, don't bother to ask. I think that is the main idea, "don't bother us"

This is true and when I see it I try to rip them a new one! There is little that aggravates me more than an adult person who cannot take responsibility for their own actions and mistakes. Hey, we all make mistakes...fix it and go on. There is plenty to complain about legitimately so that you don't have to blame someone for your own mess ups.

Strictly constructive criticism, I do use this board as a medium for thoughts to perfect a letter to my governor, senator or congressman. Comparing this country with others that are worse does not make our country better. What I really need practice on is projecting my feelings in 500 characters or less. Remember the 1st amendment.

I've no issue with USCIS at the moment and hope not to. In fact I'm pretty chilled at the whole immigration process. I'm just happy that their is a system in place to let us be with our loved ones, even if it does take a while sometimes.

quote of the day

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!
