I recently submitted a job application online for dif companys , most of them perform a back ground check while your doing the application..

I asked for them to send me a copy of the report / background...

I was surprised yesterday because i received a copy.. and at the very bottom where the results part is.. it said that my ssn is invalid

I was like #######... i double checked... and i was right.. that was indeed my number... So this morning i had a nice little chat with one of them representatives on this background company choicepoint.. and she said.. that this might have happened because my ssn is brand new and they dont have me in the system.. she said to fax a copy of my ssn card and my ead.. so i can dispute the results and blah blah.. blah..

I had another background performed by GiS.. and everything was right.. no problems... so know my question is..

Is anybody in here had a similar problem..??

Hi there,

Yes I had the same problem when I changed jobs, its normal, just send them the details of what they asked for which is SSN copy and your ID, and they will rectify it, it takes 2 working days to do it, so hurry before your employer changes their minds, its usual with choicepoint, don't panic

I had a similar situation where I paid for an online 'search' function that allowed me to check, among other things. SSN. I entered my husband's SSN - no problem, the information came back that it was valid and where it was issued. I entered mine - which I had already had for 4 years - and it came back invalid! I re-verified my number and it still came back invalid. I phoned the SS administration and asked them about this. They checked for me and the number and card were indeed valid as I thought. She explained that the problem was probably with the search software that I was using - it may not have been set up to accept certain numbers used to designate immigrant applicants as opposed to US citizen applicants. My number, however, was perfectly valid. It may be a problem with the software your potential employer is using - I suggest you ask them to phone SSA directly instead of relying on a computer programme. After all, to err is human - but to really foul things up takes a computer.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
