My husband is going to mail his Canadian passport renewal application this week, and I was wondering what is the best method to mail it? I want to use USPS because it seems to be the most affordable, but will I be able to track delivery if I use USPS? I wasn't sure how delivery tracking worked if I am shipping from the U.S. to Canada.

Sorry for creating a new thread, the clearinghouse thread wasn't working for me. Any help is appreciated.

Hi design,

I don't know anything about the different types of postal services offered in the U.S. really, but thought I would say hi - and bump this thread back up to the top, i'm sure someone will know the answer here!

You can track if using USPS, you just pay a few extra $$. I used USPS to mail in my AOS package and also to mail Xmas presents to Canada and traced it there too. Now for Canada, you can trace it up to the border basically. They advise you it's been delivered to Canada, but not to door. This is because once it gets to Canada, it goes in the hands of Canada Post so they are the ones doing the final delivery.

This brings up an interesting question, but from the opposite side. While my U.S. passport won't expire until 2015, I'd like to renew it. Whether or not I get a Canadian passport at some point in the future is irrelevant; I'd still like an American passport as well.

I apologize if it seems like I'm intruding my thoughts into this topic. It's something I've been thinking about for a little while. :)

Maybe you can renew it thru the mail, or at a US Embassy/Consulate? I remember when I was at the Montreal Consulate for my interview I saw something about US Citizens passport renewal.
