I moved to the US in Nov 2007 on a K1.

We had our civil ceremony in Jan 2008.

I got my EAD in April 2008 and it expires in April 2009.

I got my Green Card in May 2008 and it expires in May 2009.

Do I file for a renewal for my EAD now b/c I don't think I can petition to Remove Conditions on residency yet, b/c it hasn't been two years....

I found this on the USCIS site:

If you are a lawful permanent resident or a conditional permanent resident, you do not need an Employment Authorization Document. Your Alien Registration Card proves that you may work in the United States...

Do I really do nothing even though my card clearly says it expires in 2.5 months??

That's very interesting, I don't understand why they would give you a green card that was only valid for 1 year, it should be good for 2. Are you 100% positive it says it expires in 2009 and not 2010? If that's the case, then I think the best thing would be to make an Infopass appointment with your local USCIS office to find out what happened. It could be a major typo on their part since you're not eligible to file to Remove Conditions until next year because you have to have been married for at least 2 years in order to receive a 10 year green card.

You don't need to renew your EAD. You already have your GC so you don't need the EAD. Just file for Removal of Conditions for your GC within 90 days timeframe before your GC expires

I just read what the other poster said regarding the expiration date on your GC. They're right, you should make an infopass and ask about that expiration date

My understand has been that EAD is necessary when you are intending to work prior to obtaining a GC.

Once you have the GC you no longer need to worry about empolyment authorization. Right to employment is one of the privilages of being an LPR, and you have nearly all the rights of a USC excpet to vote or hold public office or certain federal government jobs.

no, my GC is valid for 2. My EAD is the one that's valid for one..

So I don't have to do anything yet, right?

Agree with Payxibka, not until 90 days before the expiration of your greencard. You basically can throw away that EAD once you get the GC because GC already gives you both right to work and live in US.

You don't need to renew your EAD since you have a GC. Just file for Removal of Conditions within the 90-day window before your GC expires.
