Hie all,

I had some doubts about the Police Clearance Certificate.

The web site suggests that we should obtain police certificates from the local Passport Office.

I live in Ahmedabad, India.

i have already obtained a Police Clearance Certificate from the District Police Office. And today i went to the local passport office for the PCC but they said that to get the PCC from Passport Office i need to have the Interview call Letter then and then they will be able to get the PCC done. Now the question is how will i get the interview call before i send the Police Clearance Certificate to NVC? Or is the Police Clearance Certificate from the District Police Office enough for sending to NVC?

I dont want to take any chance so pls suggest what should i do??

Secondly me being the BENEFICIARY

1) Marriage certificate

2) Police Clearance Certificate

3) birth certificate

4) passport biographic page

5) 4 Passport size photos

These are the only documents i need to send to NVC correct?

and do i need to send the Original documents or the notarized photo copy should be fine?

And do we need to send my wife's (PETITIONER) birth cirtificate?

as we have her birth cirtificate in our regional language.

i have already got it translated by a local lawyer and got it notarized. now while sending the same do we need to attache the copy of the birth cirtificate in our regional language?

Dear VJ members please be kind enough to help me out in clearing all my doubts..

as i said I dont want to take any chance and i dont want any RFE. so please suggest...

Vishal,

There are lots of threads regarding how to obtain pcc from ahmedabad passport office in regional section. But let me give you brief explanation on how to obtain pcc from passport office since people who works at ahmedabad passport office are jerk and they dont know the new process. I know how hard it is to obtain pcc from that dumb passport office, my wife went through that hassle and I can feel your pain. You will need following documents:

1). packet 3 from mumbai consulate website or k3 interview letter or DS3032 copy with barcode (If you can take all)

2). original passport

3). 2 2x2 photos

4). copy/original Local district police clearance

5). passport office form along with fee

And yes you will need to send original or certified copies NOT notarized copies of documents you reference with DS230 part 1 signed and part 2 unsigned.

No you dont need to send petitioner BC, but if you want to you can send citizenship ceritficate copy. Its not required but I sent just to be on safe side.

Let me know if you have any other question.

Good luck!

Vishal,

I am in the same boat as you. My wife tried to get the PCC from Ahmedabad passport office and they said they wouldn't issue it until she got the interview letter. She is going to go back there later this week, with the hardcopy of the DS3032(I created the barcode and mailed it to her), copies of the NOA2 approvals, and the entire I-130 case file. For whatever reason the folks at the Ahmedabad passport office feel like they just need to hassle you, and not read any of the updated procedures.

Good Luck!!

Thanx alot...

any other inputs???

Find an agent who deals with the passport office and seek their help. Since they deal with postpost office on a daily basis they may know the right person to contact in passport office for PCC.

My wife tried the Ahmedabad passport office yesterday, and they wanted the interview letter. She is going to try again on Friday. She went to a travel agent, and the agent wanted a copy of the entire I-130 case file to show the person in the Passport Office. I'm not so comfortable giving someone a copy of the entire I-130 file. Mindmaster - what did you do to get the passport office PCC?

I am not familiar with Indian government process. My brother takes care of my Indian affairs. She did not mention any issue in getting a PCC so I assume they have a standard process for getting a PCC in India.

Hi,

My husband has gone through this last year. In the end he took the DS-230 cover letter along (which states his name saying send all the requested documents to NVC) with other documents which says that "you have to submit PCC to NVC" than later will get the appointment letter. This process is so hard and time consuming. He also took the print out from the mumbai consulate website, i believe it is Packet 4, which describes the different documents to submit.

Just have to explain the administrative person that PCC is needed to get the appointment letter...

Best of Luck..

It seems there is a big problem at Ahemdabad passport office. I think we should write letters or emails to the passport office in New Delhi. I know it is in Shastri Bhavan. I will try to find more information. My wife got the PCC from the Jammu passport office in a couple of hours though they ased what it is for and she explained and it was take care of.

Good luck to all of you who have to collect their PCC from Ahemdabad.

Lets write to N. Modi.

Thanks for the information. Now that my wife has to two local pcc documents, she is going to the Ahmedabad passport office tomorrow with the DS-230 cover sheet, and the packet 4 information. Question about the DS-230 coversheet, should the address be my address or her address?? It has her name in the first sentence.

To get the local PCC my wife had to go to the District Police 5 times, and then they finally gave her the document. Even though they had it all ready, and it was sitting on the officer's desk, he simply said I'll get to it when I get to it. Got to love the corruption and lack of responsiveness.

hie all

i have found out some facts about the process of getting PCC from the passport office.

on the website www.passport.gov by ministry of external affairs they have nowhere mentioned that we need to subbmit the interview call letter for getting the PCC done. sending u the link for the same.

https://passport.gov.in/pms/Police%20Cleara...Certificate.htm.

the staff at the passport office told me that they wont issue me the PCC till i provide the Interview letter. now as per the rules i can get the Interview call only after i subbmit the PCC to the immigration department.

And the worse part is that the local so called agents sitting outside the passport office told that they will get the PCC without any kind of documents provided i pay them Rs 4000

So it seems that the agents has more authority/knowledge/what not then the people appointed in the passport office.

i have already sent a complaint mail to rpo.ahmedabad@mea.gov.in and m awaiting the reply..

i m gonna fight for it.

Many people have reported issues with the Ahmedabad passport office. For whatever reason they just don't seem to be following the procedures that other passport offices in India are following. A number of members of VJ have reported that they have written to NVC, the Mumbai Consulate, and the email address above. The mumbai consulate did respond back to a couple of people and mentioned that the issue was resolved. But that doesn't seem to be the case. Will let you know how my wife's experience turns out.
