Dave - I've done the journal thing....doesn't help me at all.

I know the soda's was a huge thing. I've cut down on everything else...eating lots of salads...veggies....fruits...cut out most of my sweets...it'll get there but I just have so much I need to lose.

I agree with Maire - you have a great start here! Do you mind if I ask, did you look at your journal and try to figure out what "trouble spots" you might have? Do you drink juice? Just like soda, juice is *packed* with Carbs and calories. Like my doctor explained to me, one small orange has ~12 or so carbs (including about 2.5g of fiber and 1g protein) and about 45 calories, not squeeze out all the juice (and most of the calories/carbs) of 10 of them and put them into a glass and that is what you are drinking. 8oz of fresh juice has about 38g of Carbs and 121 calories (and some fruit juices even *add* sugar!). My reason for a food journal is not to keep it forever, but just for you to use to look if there are frequent items that may have an impact. This helped me some, but whatever works for you...

No matter what, you have a great start - if you lose 5lb/month (not too far from what you have done already) and can keep it up for 6 months, there goes 30 pounds!

but thats a great start!!!!!!!!! ull see the improvement soon! u should join a gym!!!!!just by doing nothing and sitting in the sauna or the steam room u can lose weight....!!!lol u can sit there and talk to ur friend for 30 min and u will def see the difference

With me buying this house, I don't have the funds for a gym right now. :(

well i dont know how much they are there..but I only pay $16/month

Wow..that's a great price. The one in my little town is like $50/month.

The ones with pools around here are around $50-75/month... but you can go to almost any of them (or the county owned facilities) for anywhere from $8-15/day as well. However, most of them are "hurting" for the last couple years and there are deals to be made.

But to me, if you are really trying to save, you can shop around - almost all will give you a FREE week pass to evaluate their gym. This way you can get free workouts and get to decide what gyms might be the best if you ever decide to join one permanently. I would schedule it to use as many of the 7 days as you can, then take a couple days off and start a new free week. But I have a free gym where I work, though when Jenny gets here, we may join a different one (because she can't get into the company's gym) with a pool.

I could not agree more! Gyms are going crazy trying to have people sign up

Dave - I used the journal like you...to find my weak/trouble spots. It just didn't really help me much.

Hmmm..I'll have to make some calls to my local gyms then! I know when Patrick gets here we'll be doing more things like that together.

Hugs, Liz
