I'm actually starting to feel fortunate that we don't have any household items or things of our own yet! We each have a laptop to our name and loads of cds.. that's about it! It will be great to look for the apartment together and pick out little household things like couches and dishware.. It's so exciting to think about! I think Craigslist will be a wonderful investment of our time for the first few months.. hehe.

Yes but it is quite expensive. I was thinking packing them in a hard suitcase with lots of bubble wrap. They are going to get bounced around no matter how we ship them. They are pretty fragile. Not to concerned about the cases as they are easy to replace. It's the insects I am concerned with. I am not even sure if the US will allow them in.

Ooo IKEA is nice too, lots of fun and affordable furniture. IKEA from craigslist would be ideal.. ^_^ Seattle is a big college and to be honest... tree hugger environment.. there will be lots of things to choose from on used-but-new-to-me furniture.

Oh yeah, I hadn't thought of that! I think though if you wrap them really good in paper, then the bubble wrap they might do ok.

Are you going to go over there and fly back home with them when they get their visas?

yep, that's what I've heard. I haven't been to an IKEA since I lived in Germany....sounds like they really havent changed though! Oh ... and if you need things like appliances, don't forget to check scratch and dent stores!

IKEA was supposedly an expensive store in Greece, but here it's quite affordable. I haven't been in there in a while either but I do know of a big branch of theirs in Seattle.

I'm going to get a nap before work so I'll talk to you all later!

I love IKEA as well. I got my bedroom set there and a lot of the knick knacks in my hose are from there too. I don't have many pictures on the walls though and apparently thats what makes my house look empty according to Oksana. I told her that is going to be her job when she first gets here. That way she'll have something to do while we wait for work authorization. Since I have directv w I am going to get the Russian channels for her to avoid homesickness. WHat are you guys doing to combat homesickness for your SO?
