I try not to think about how long it has been since I last saw Oksana. Now I am curious as to how long it has been for others. I left Russia the last time on New years eve. BTW it was the worst new years ever. It has been seven months and counting and it looks as if it could be a few more.

It has been since last Nov 10 for me :(

I wish I had more vacation....I would be there every couple months! And you guys should not complain - from where I am, it is $1100-1200 round trip just to Manila. I could get that down to about 980 if I am willing to add a stop and 8+ hours to a 22-24 hour trip, but it is not worth it to me! I would rather spend the extra 200...

Believe me when I say that I am not complaining... I consider myself very fortunate that I can see Joanna every few months and that it is relatively inexpensive to see each other... I think it was cheaper to fly her here round trip $484 than it was for my Mother to fly to Atlanta from Syracuse... go figure!

It was from Berlin... she is only 1 1/2 hours by car from TXL... and I got it from Delta... When I flew over at Easter... I also flew Delta via Amsterdam and it was only $616 I think...

Thanks Lee and Richard for the perspective and encouraging words. I'll probably be feeling anxious again in a few hours, but I appreciate it. :)

Not sure if this will help or hurt, but I just called the Department of State. They just said that it is standard processing and some people are randomly selected for it or there was a name hit in one of their databases etc. The lady was nice and she said it should probably be cleared up at the end of July, but that is just an estimate and not a guarantee. At least its something.

I just called NVC and our file was sent to Dublin yesterday. woo hoo. I hope the rest of the journey is plain sailing :star:

For those who might want to track their package from the NVC to the embassy, I found a good wiki on the whole process for IR1/CR1 which had details on how to do this. The following is how you can do this (I tested this and it works ok as long as you include the spaces in the reference as described and use a date that is a workday - so if your file was sent yesterday, you may need to put in friday's date):

" * 1. NVC sets an appointment date for you and sends out your package to the US Embassy.

If you're really #######, paranoid, or just a busybody, you can track the package status. You can use the date after your interview was assigned, as the tracking reference date, and then do a search on DHL. The format to use is "EXP 07 OCT 2008A" don't forget the spaces...and to set the date range on the tracking page. The website for tracking is. http://track.dhl-usa.com/TrackByRef.asp?nav=TrackByRef The package may not go out on the next day, but the reference code will still be for that date. When your package is able to be tracked, it will make more sense. You'll see a list of packages going to different embassies. You'll know which one is yours. "

So for those sent yesterday use the reference of "EXP 10 JUL 2009A" and enter a date range that includes yesterday. then just find your embassy and click on the tracking number...

Thanks Dave, I'm going to check it now

it is in transit and left OH this morning, scheduled for next day delivery :dance::dance:

thanks again Dave

Susan, it definitely looks like you and I were in the same pile of applications. I just called them up, and they confirmed that it went out yesterday. So it looks like we went to Wilmington, OH together (where DHL has its central sorting and flight operations) and then split up...

Now it is time to get Lee and Chelartie out of the extra processing!
