Roman, I also read somewhere that some airlines give you a break when getting a one way ticket for immigration purposes... It might be worth calling the airlines too.

Oh?? I didn't know this! I'll have to let Pat know..hehe!

Liz, I am just full of useless information :)

I just called NVC and our file was sent to Dublin yesterday. woo hoo. I hope the rest of the journey is plain sailing :star:

For those who might want to track their package from the NVC to the embassy, I found a good wiki on the whole process for IR1/CR1 which had details on how to do this. The following is how you can do this (I tested this and it works ok as long as you include the spaces in the reference as described and use a date that is a workday - so if your file was sent yesterday, you may need to put in friday's date):

" * 1. NVC sets an appointment date for you and sends out your package to the US Embassy.

If you're really #######, paranoid, or just a busybody, you can track the package status. You can use the date after your interview was assigned, as the tracking reference date, and then do a search on DHL. The format to use is "EXP 07 OCT 2008A" don't forget the spaces...and to set the date range on the tracking page. The website for tracking is. http://track.dhl-usa.com/TrackByRef.asp?nav=TrackByRef The package may not go out on the next day, but the reference code will still be for that date. When your package is able to be tracked, it will make more sense. You'll see a list of packages going to different embassies. You'll know which one is yours. "

So for those sent yesterday use the reference of "EXP 10 JUL 2009A" and enter a date range that includes yesterday. then just find your embassy and click on the tracking number...

Thanks Dave, I'm going to check it now

The other day I wrote the Embassy in Warsaw to get a few questions answered... One being.. can the medical be done in advance of the file being sent to the Embassy or Packet 3 being sent out... the answer is YES and two... Would there be a way to get an expedited interview in order to get the children here ASAP to start school... the answer was ..... when you have your case number from the NVC write us again and we will see what we can do..... which is a lot better than NO! :) The third and final question was regarding the children and if we needed her ex to sign a release of some sort... and that answer was NO! So, I don't have to worry about.... ummmmm, an inducement :)

I try not to think about how long it has been since I last saw Oksana. Now I am curious as to how long it has been for others. I left Russia the last time on New years eve. BTW it was the worst new years ever. It has been seven months and counting and it looks as if it could be a few more.
