heys guys, I was just on the NVC website and found an interesting article. there is a new form DS-160, which is filled out online coming on soon which will eventually replace current nonimmigrant application forms DS-156, 157, 158, and other related forms, such as the DS-156E and 156K. it is only being used by some US embassies at the present time but will eventually be phased in for all. Some people from this forum may need to use this, hope it helps!!!!

About the New Online Form

The new DS-160, Nonimmigrant Visa Electronic Application, is a fully integrated online application form that will be used to collect the necessary application information from persons seeking a nonimmigrant visa. The DS-160 will be submitted electronically to the Department of State via the Internet. Consular Officers will use the information entered on the DS-160 to process the visa application and, combined with a personal interview, will determine an applicant’s eligibility for a nonimmigrant visa. View Frequently Asked Questions about the form DS-160.

List of U.S. Embassies and Consulates Using Form DS-160

The new DS-160 online, Nonimmigrant Visa Electronic Application, is currently being used only at selected U.S. Embassy and Consulate locations. NOTICE: Nonimmigrant visa applicants will need to review U.S. Embassy website how-to-apply information for detailed instructions. Nonimmigrant visa applicants at the following U.S. Embassy and Consulate locations are required to apply using the online DS-160;

Bermuda; Hamilton

Canada; Montreal and Vancouver

Hong Kong

Ireland; Dublin

Libya; Tripoli

Mexico; Ciudad Juarez, Hermosillo, Matamoros, Monterrey, Nogales, and Nuevo Laredo

Note: You may want to check this webpage later. Additions to the above listing will be made as additional locations implement the new process.

No problem, I don't know how quick they will phase it in. It applies to us, so I will let everyone know how quick, easy effiecient etc it is compared to the other forms. Apparatly when it is filled out, the petitioner will receive a confrmation page, that needs to be printed out and is taken to the interview. The consular officer then access the information online through the confirmation number.

Yeah I saw that form online, it is the old I-94 form that is filled out and given to the immigration officer when entering the States. They brought that form in for everyone, but apparantly this form is for immigration purposes, replacing some of the old forms. The US must be updating their systems or ways of doing things, thats 2 that has to be filled out online, I'm sure there are probably more. Maybe it will make the system more efficient for future applicants

And there is actually a bar code printed on the form as well that hold the information... or at least the 156 from Warsaw did. Still had to print it out and bring it with you... but it is a step in the right direction at least. :)

Ok... I am off like a prom dress again... (hint Maire)

See you guys from home after my nap :)
