well we bought a house adn literally demolished everything but the 4 external walls, we changed the shape and layout of some rooms, we put an extension on the kitchen, new siding, new roof, put walk in closets in all the berooms. we put in all new bathrooms, brand new kitchen, new doors new windows, i could keep going, there was nothing left from the old house. it was alot of work, we just talked out it the whole time, if one had idea, we listened and if it was good we went with it, if not then we scraped it. dnt get me wrong, we had plenty of arguments over

some suggestions, but we made it in the end. it is nearly done.

Holy Construction Crew Batman! Susan, you should post some photos too!

ok so that people don't get mad that we aren't talking about k-1's. today's topic open for discussion. if anyone of you didn't get approved what would you have done next? marriage, gave up? moved to SO country?

Great question. We will try marriage and then if that doesn't work we would look into me moving there and teaching English. Try again once a year until we get approved. I don't think that will be the case for us though.

Thanks Liz I am doing good. I expect to be out of AP this week. I did a bunch of reading on K-1's in AP at NVC and they don't seem to last for more than two weeks.

I actually have thought about this...I would likely move to the Philippines (and take all my assets with me) and refuse to pay taxes ever again. I am likely to retire there with my sweetie in another 5 or 10 years if I can anyway, and having the "benefit" of paying $500 to be denied would tick me off to no end. Of course, there is no reason to be denied for most applicants - though the USCIS taking their grand old time is all too likely...

I also thought about it from the stand point of the IF we didn't get approved. It would be very difficult for me with children and my job... not to mention I don't speak Polish. There is no way I could earn what I earn here and that would also be problematical.... So, I hope we don't have to ever find out! Dave, agreed, there is no reason for most of us to be denied it is just the painstaking process we have to go through.

I am totally willing to live in Russia, but it doesn't make much sense for us to do that though. Either of us are nowhere near the retirement age and there isn't nearly the amount of opportunity as there is in the states. Her mother already lives here in New York as well. We have discussed it before and I am willing to live there, but on a temporary basis and I would have to actually learn the language. We want to be together and the where isn't nearly as important. All of that being said I am sure we will be approved and now its just getting through all of the red tape.

I hear you! If I had kids that would change everything! As for my job, it pays for the lifestyle I tend to live here, but the Philippines is a cheaper place, and I already know from my travels, I can be pretty comfortable with a fairly minimalist lifestyle. If there is a my sweetie, a nice beach, nice ocean, and scuba I will be quite happy and content. I might even buy a guesthouse or something to keep me busy and offer modest income. I expect that my savings and money from either renting or selling my house will help keep me going...

I will definitly post some before and after pics. I also have to give kudos to Jeremy for taking the chance to buy the house, I didn't want to buy it. he saw the potential in it, I could not picture what we wanted to do with it, but he could. pictures will be put up soon.
