good afternoon all,

just reading through the last few pages, talking about medicals, in Ireland it is €350, which is probably near $500, police cert if free, visa is €107 plus €80 for biometrics and then its the plane cost which is usually around $600-$800, and dont even get me started on my juggage weight, for some reason people started buying us Irish things to put in the house, so im going to have to ship a lot over as well as what I am allowed to bring on the plane. My mom and my aunt are going to travel also so I have their weights to bring stuff. they are going to pack light, so that isnt too bad.

al-huub jameel any luck yet? I've my fingers crossed for you this week girl

I told Oksana the same thing. Most of her clothes are going to be worthless in Florida. I told her to pack only the light clothes. We'll nuy new stuff when she gets here. Siberian weather and Florida weather are so different that 90% of her wardrobe is too heavy.

You all should consider using those "space bags". When I go to bring my SO back here, I am taking a bunch of those. They are those space saving plastic bags that you suck the air out to compress the size. We'll be able to bring almost all her clothes back this way much easier.

I use the backpacker/traveler equivalent of these - compression stuff sacks. They weigh only a few ounces and you put clothes etc in them, and then pull the straps (basically one on each "corner") and it squeezes the stuff inside down to about half the size (thought the weight is the same. Space Bags weigh more, and if you put a hole in them, they are useless.

As for packing and flying here, Jenny already said she plans on one bag and a carry-on (I just love that she is so practical!). I will also likely fly with a suitcase with only a little space used - enough for a few pairs of shorts, underwear, and shirts which she can fill too. My other bag will be my diving gear which I usually smuggle on as "carry on". If we need to get more stuff here, we will send a big box or 2 via mail. And don't forget, trying to bring all the lotions, shampoos, etc makes little sense. Bring enough for a few days (travel size) and go shopping here to get that stuff (or like me, buy some for her and have it waiting for her).

"go shopping here to get that stuff (or like me, buy some for her and have it waiting for her)."

that's an awesome idea, i been thinking of doing that and i guess with the offers going on i will start doing that.

Thanks so much!! And no, nothing yet, but I'm not giving up! I can't believe how expensive yours and others medicals are! That's great that you will have your family to travel with you and carry stuff!! I just found out the price of the police report in Jordan is 1JD, which is like $1.25US. And I called and confirmed on the medical and it is still 60JD (90ish US) But..the plane tickets...yikes. Around 1900 for round trip and if we're lucky 1,000 for one way.

excuse me???none ..I am Cuban :bonk: and whats so funny?

Cubans are what makes south fl so great!!
