I think I know why you get different list numbers. I think you are going to the original "Igor's List" site (hosted at berkely.edu). This site breaks it into two batches - those within "USCIS processing times" and those that have are older than that. Basically those less than 6 months old and a second list of older ones. If you go to teh "Timelines" section from the Home page of the VJ site there is a link to a easier to use "Igor's list". This is a fairly recent addition (maybe 6 weeks old at most). This is the number that I have in my signature, and also Liz and Patrick. FYI, we are the same filing date (2/23) and NOA1 date (2/26). I am currently 363 on the VJ Igor's list and 277 on the "original" berkely Igor's list.

Ok..seriously..WHAT is going on with Igor's List???

We keep moving up the list but our estimated date is even further back now than when we first submitted our petition! Did something change in the criteria or what???

Sorry for the rant...it's so discouraging though!! :(

Well, I am in the same boat, except add 20 or 30 to you place on the list :(

I think I understand why things are changing like that. I think the "estimated date" is based upon a moving average of how long the last "X" applications have actually taken. I think the "X" is something like the last month or 3 months or something like that. If you look at the last 15 applications, you will see that some of the most recent approvals are pretty old with one that is from last *May* for example. So this means that while many applications recently approved only took about 100 days, some took 300+. So the average is more like 130-150 days and thus the "expected date" is skewed later.

I am hoping the 100 days is what we will get.

Also, I think they deleted a bunch of old petitions from Igor's List from April 2008 that probably had been approved and never updated. So we moved up a huge chunk at a time, but that doesn't mean it was b/c of a flurry of approval in one day or so.

To me, instead of being so concerned with the actual number on the list (since it's really only a sample of all petitions) I see the value more as, "So, it looks like they're approving lots of petitions from early December now." Gives us a sense of where the backlog is.

BTW, I'm going to visit SO this Sunday for 6 days! His birthday is Monday. Very excited!!! Anyone else have upcoming visits planned?

hehe..a flurry of approvals wouldn't have been bad either! :D

And your right..i'm not so much concerned about the number on the list as much as I am the date. Most people here on VJ will tell you to go by the date rather than the number....and with how the dates are slipping back it's confusing. However, I hadn't realized that they deleted some old petitions so that would explain the date issue.

Awww....I hope you have a GREAT time with your SO!!! Mine was just here in February...I was planning to go in June but we're thinking now that we'll just wait until he's ready to come over here and then I'll go stay with him a few days and help him bring his things and the cats home.

Hugs, Liz

Yeah, I'm not sure about the dates. I hear people saying they are quite accurate but b/c they're based on averages and they change so much, it seems like they're most accurate right before you're about to be approved, which could be a different estimate than the original? In other words, I'm hoping that as we we closer, the date keeps moving up and our petition and the date meet in the middle! :) Does that make sense?

That sounds like a good plan. Hopefully June will be not too far off from when he's ready to come!
