A friend of mine entered the US as a tourist visa and she got 6 months. Some days before her months expired, she requested Political Asylum and she gained 4 more months.

Since tought it was going to be easy and fast, and it really wanst, she decided to marry a american citizen and he aplied for her adjustment of status.

I told her she was completely nuts cause its obvios they will see she is just trying to stay...

What do you guys think? Isnt it crazy?

I dont know why she wanted to apply for Asylum in the first place. Is she is gonna get killed by her government if she comes back home?? If she had a tourist visa and she wa sin America for 6 months I doubt it. If she wanted the green card so bad.....thats really a fraud. Both marriage and asylum. And now with IMBRA I don't think her green card process is going to be easy. Well at least I wish her to have a bad journey. Thats what she gets for cheating on the immigration laws. A lot of people get caught and she is going to get caught as well dont u worry

What I find weird is that she only got asylum for four months. Like, it's going to be better in four months? That sounds really off to me. Asylum status is supposed to be indefinite.

The tourist visa thing won't matter, though, AFAIK. You can't apply for asylum until you're physically in the U.S., so coming in on a tourist visa would make sense.

But yeah, this sounds really fishy to me. It's been said before, but it's people like this who ruin the process for all of us.
