Can the license that we sign on the day of the wedding be used to send in with the AOS or must we wait for the official document to be sent back after the wedding?

You cannot send in the marriage license, you have to send in the marriage certificate (after you marry).

You have to send the Marriage Certificate. A Marriage License is worthless, anybody can get one.

In my state (Indiana), they give a "certified marriage license"... which is equivalent to "marriage certificate" because that is the piece of paper with county clerk's signature on it only after you getting married. the name is very confusing
