Canadian going for the IR1/ CR1

I have heard from people on this board that the K3 processing times are slower than the IR1 currently. With the IR1 are there restrictions on travel between the US and Canada will the processing is going on. Thanks.

K3s are not slower. IRs/CRs are a bit longer but MUCH better and less hassel visas. Cheaper also.

There are not specific restrictions per se but it is always up to the discretion of the border agents as to whether you are allowed to enter the US or not. Generally the best approach is to bring evidence of strong ties to Canada. This could include proof of employment and when you are expected to return to work, lease agreements for your residence etc. However, there are never any guarantees that you will be allowed to enter the US. Some people cross multiple times without any trouble while others are not so lucky.

We submitted our I-130 immediately following our wedding and I have not tried to travel into the US since.

My husband crossed about every other week for the duration of our visa process. So no, there are no outright restrictions per se. However, as OBX said, it is up to the border guards and each one has their own take on people entering the US with a petition pending. My husband crossed by land at various places and only once did we ever think he might be prevented from entering. He always carried evidence of his ties to Canada (mortgage statement, utilities, etc. copies of our filed paperwork) but was never asked for it. We're also not spring chickens so they may look at us differently than 20-somethings crossing (in fact, I'd put money on it.)

Always be honest with the guards. Most of them on both sides are darn nice people and will offer jokes and jibes about why you aren't together and who is moving where and about the immigration process. Sometimes they know the rules, sometimes they're a little off. But I haven't found any that have ill intent.
