You can make an infopass appointment by going to the http://www.uscis.gov website. On the far right side lower down there is an option to 'schedule an appointment'. You click on that and select one of the options available (I think it is something like haven't received green card or something similar). The appointment will be at your local USCIS office. You bring your unexpired passport and your green card to the appointment. If your passport is expired, still bring it but also bring 2 passport size photographs. They will look up your file by your A#, stamp your unexpired passport with the I-551 stamp extending your status for another year - or if your passport is expired, will issue an I-94 good for one year with one of the photographs you bring, and put that into your expired passport.

My application for removal of condition is on process. How I am able to travel abroad if my one year extension letter is run out?

Thanks

Ann

An infopass appointment at ur local office will give you an 551 extension or an ADIT stamp after you show them ur old extension letter and green card. Some people have reported that the exp. green card was taken. It all depends on the officer concerned.

IMP: your green card status expires one year from the date of your green card expiry. The date on the letter itself is meaningless.

Thank you all for your time in replying me and help.

How long it would approximatelly take to have an appointment if I apply for infopass online today???

I submited my I-795 IN to VSC in April 2008 and my status is still pending. I will travel abroad in May.

Hopefully I have a plenty time to apply for an extentsion.

Thank you again!

Ann

Try and find out. It depends on how many appointments they have open. I was able to book an appointment several weeks in advance and you might want to try to schedule an appointment for sometime in April - try about 4 weeks prior to your travel or the expiry of your extension - whatever comes earliest. Bring your proof of travel arrangements with you as an added support for your request. You could try and see if they have any appointments now that far in advance but I suspect not. You might want to wait a few weeks before making your infopass. Do go through the steps right now though and see what is involved. You don't actually have to select an actual date right now if they are too soon.
