Hello everyone!

This is my very first post here on VJ. Everyone seems to be so helpful so I thought i'd give this a try.

I just got my K-1 Packet-3 from the Montreal Consulate today (I'm the beneficiary). I'm trying to fill out the DS-230 form, but i'm a little stuck on question 25, "“List all previous visits to or residence in the United States.” As a Canadian i've traveled to the US many, many times since i was a baby, and it is virtually impossible for me to record every visit i've ever made across the boarder. I was thinking about just putting all the trips i've made since my relationship with my American fiance began 4 years ago, do you think that would be sufficient? And many include a side note explaining i've made additional trips for the last 21 years? Also, where it asks for "type of visa" i'm not sure what to put since Canadians aren't required to have any kind of visa to travel to the US. Would i put n/a?

Thanks for your help!!

Amanda

I just completed my packet 3 as well. I listed all the visits I made since the whole passport requirement came into effect. You will have the stamps in your passport.

Well i've never entered the US by air, just by car, which doesn't require a passport until June of this year. So my passport has no stamps in it a all...

Bill,

My fiance is in the same situation. I believe that the DS230 asks for the last 4 times... the online form asks for the last 5 times. I'm in Michigan and my fiancee is in London, so I know what you mean.

Get bank records that match up with your visits (purchases and ATM visits) and you should be good if they need proof of your travel back & forth. That's what we've had to do.

Good luck!

If it were me, I'd list the last visit and then below, hand write something to the effect, "I live in a boarder town and have been in the US at least # of times throughout my life. They'll understand.

Yes, thats exactly what i did. I listed all the trips I could honestly remember taking and added a footnote saying I provided information to the best of my knowledge and explained the situation.

As for bank statements that doesn't really help either... I often don't even purchase anything when I go over, or I use US currency that I get from the bank prior to entry. Do you really think they would ask for such specific information? I sure hope not...

I go to Quebec maybe 2-3 times per week, I live 6 miles from the border. I use my passport but have never had it stamped. I know it is a difficult answer. I would suggest listing your last few visits of any duration, maybe overnighters. Then attach a separate sheet explaining you live in a border and frequently travel to the US. I sure wouldn't be able to do anything else if asked the same question about my visits to Canada.
