hi vj.

although i have an international drivers license, i was wondering if anyone entering on K1 visa can apply at the DMV after getting married.

if not, when? and how?

and yes, moving to MI. ive been on the secretary of state's website but it doesnt say much about getting a driver's lic.

i always use my international driver's lic when i go there, but since im on K1 now. im just wondering if i can just get a license from the DMV.

I found DMV.org really useful for pointing me in the right direction. But it is unofficial.

i was wondering about the drivers license stuff too, sometimes i'm glad i live in mississippi.

It is state specific of course. Vermont has enacted the real ID act so that new Vermont licenses can be used to travel to Canada. My wife had to show her visa/I-94, passport, marriage license and the I-797C from our AOS papers (NOA1 for AOS). After taking the test she was given a license good for 2 years and can renew it when we remove conditions of her residency. Vermont requires you demonstrate you can be here legally for a minimum of 6 months and then issues a lisence which expires with your permission to remain in the country.
