Which two states that are alphabetically next to eachother also share a border?

What was the first state to join the U.S. after the 13 original colonies?

Vermont 14th state added to union

Massachusetts and New Hampshire aren't next to each other alphabetically. In between them are Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, and Nevada. Maine's even further from New Hampshire than Massachusetts is, alphabetically speaking. There sure are a lot of "M" states!

Florida/Georgia are adjacent in the alphabetical list, as are Illinois/Indiana.

Are you talking about sequential order or merely being next to each other as letters? If it's the former, I'd agree; however, if it's the latter, then Maine and New Hampshire would definitely count.
