We did it. Luis wound up only having 1 or 2 vaccines given by the medical interview doctor because he got the rest done beforehand. Good luck!

Hi everyone,

My fiance is from Peru (Lima) he has been here for four years, he misses many things from home....especially now during the copa mundial. Before we came here (Minneapolis) we were in Lima (Jesus Maria) and before that me in Colombia (Bogota, Chapinero) and him in Lima. Things I know he misses and the first thing he does when he arrives in Lima (about 1 time per year, this year we will go to visit in January 2007!!):

1) chela + ceviche

2) arroz con pollo

3) lomo saltado

4) pan - pan - pan

5) pastel de acelga

6) acetunas

7) palta

There is a good cevicheria in Lima: la choza nautica, but I have never been there (just heard it is good).

PS> I don't know about the rest of you, but we were surprised that Alan Garcia was re-elected :0

What a small world. My wife is in Lima right now (Jesus Maria - you might recognize the municipalidad en the photo I am using as my avatar) but is from Sullana, Piura. I was married to a Bogotana before and lived in Bogota (near Chapinero in Los Alcazares... Avenida de Chile and Cra. 24) for 2 years.

Now I am all alone again in the Pacific NW, working hard to get my wife and step-son up here with me.

Mark :)

Hola a todos!!

Hi everybody!!

Well I have been a member of VJ for 6 or 7 months now and I cannot believe this is the first time I read this thread! Great thread by the way!

I have been here for almost 2 months on a fiance visa, got married and applied for the AOS. So now I'm just waiting for my EAD to start applying for jobs.

I'm from Arequipa, la Blanca Ciudad but lived and worked in Lima for 10 years before moving to California. I used to live in Miraflores, near Larcomar and Iglesia de Fatima, such a nice neighborhood ...

I love pollo a la brasa con salsa de aji amarillo del Pardo's o del Mediterraneo ... Ceviche, obvioooooo!! ... Adobo in Plaza de Yanahuara in Arequipa on a Sunday after partying all night long ... rocotito relleno, chupe de camarones ... ayyy, mejor no sigo ...

Anyway, just wanted to say hi!!

Besos,

Patricia

hello everyone!!!

I would like to welcome to the new Peruvian VJ's members and wish you a happy day :P

soon we'll celebrate El señor de los milagros (Lord of the miracles) far from home but still many celebrate our customs in the US.

We might not have our Turron de Doña pepa  which is my case :( but I have the faith.

TB treatment usually consists of 6-9 months of INH (a pill taken daily) as well as an initial chest x-ray to determine if the TB is active or inactive. They will probably also require a follow up chest x-ray after the treatment has been completed. The INH meds are pretty harmless although they are hard on the liver so alcohol should be avoided while taking the meds. Hope this helps!
