She's going to Peru for almost 4 months, lucky her. Right now I couldn't do that because of my pregnancy and beacuse I have to work.

Sil won't be so happy If I go there for a long period of time, once I went to Peru three days -yes, just 3 days- before Sil and you had to see the scene at the airport, it was very sad.

Good luck to your wifey, I think I'm going in January (9th-24th).

Hugs

How are you doing? I know you are being hit by a bunch of hurricanes, is your family ok??? and how was the trip to Peru?? Hope everything is fine.

Take care

Vi

Hi Vi

Congratulations again on being pregnant. How did Sil react when you told him ???? I am sure he is excited and nervous as I was.

Thanks for asking.... we are all ok. The hurricanes thank god have not hit us directly..... We've been very lucky so far this season..... The past 2 days has been very very windy 30 to 40 MPH winds from Ike that is over 200 miles to our south.

We had a good time in Lima....... tried new flavors of Pisco Sour's (Coca, Mango) that were very good... Never tried those before. I can't remember the name of place that you go to have them... It is a very popular place and very very busy. Also went to (I think it's called Pizza Street) the first night there after my flight got in around 1:00 a.m. Interesting place that I had never been to before.

We rented an apartment for the time I was there so Rossy and I could have some time alone while her Mom looked after Sebastien for us.

Don't know when we'll get back there again as the next time we go it will be 3 air tickets. I think Rossy's Mom will come here for visit before we head back there. And as I like to travel while in Peru we have to look into side trips as well and those $$$ add up quickly.

I'm glad everything is good with you guys.

Sil was in shock for the first two days, my mom as you can imagine was in heaven 'cause this baby is going to be my parents first grandchild, she wanted to announce it on tv and newspapers that she is going to be a grandma. Then we announced it to my entire family during my b-day party (around 80 people) and everybody screamed as if Peru won the Worls cup (we all know that will never happen).

Sil is very, very excited, right now he is reading a "The new age baby name book" 'cause we are not agreeing with a name.

He wants to tell everybody here in the States but I prefer to wait until the 3rd month, I know, I know I sound crazy.

I had just a few Pisco Sours 'cause then we found out that I was pregnant and nobody allowed me to have any alcohol :crying: , you don't remember the name of the place, let me see.. maybe "Huaringas" or "El Tayta"??? just guessing..

Well my friends gotta go, I have to call Peru...

I went to Tayta the first night of my first trip to Peru, right off the plane!!! I think we were there until the sun came up. That place was very cool  But the last time I was down there, Erika and I walked by it during the day and it was shut down :(

Thanks Meli!! Yes, I think everybody here knows how much I want to have a baby, the due date is April 26th but because is my first baby you never know.

My doctor doesn't speak spanish  snif, snif.

Yes, I'm not feeling me, I'm feeling so weird, I'm super emotional, I have what we call in Peru "Mamitis Aguda", I want my mommy!!!! I'm crying alot because I'm missing her too much but yesterday she had a seriuos conversation with me and reminded me that if I'm sad all the time that will affect my baby and there is nothing to worry about because mom and dad are coming in April and staying with us for a while.

+ I have no energy to go to the gym, that's so weird....

Melissa I have a question, I remember that you traveled to Peru when you were pregnant, how far were you in your pregnancy? because my family want to see me and they are inviting me to go in January, you think that will be ok?? I know that my doctor has the last word but what do you think?

That's it for now, we are celebrating that Peru didn't loss against Argentina yesterday, we thought they were going to beat us.

Take care people

Im sorry you are not feeling yourself, well... it is something that happens when we become mommies... you wont be yourself until your kids move out, hehehe... once they are born mommies devote themselves to them and forget about everything that doesnt involve them. I think it is natural... ;)

I traveled when I was between 21-22 weeks pregnant, doctors recommend that you dont travel after the 25th-26th week... of course it depends on how you are doing and all that... my mom made sure that I had an ultrasound before I left so they could see if the placenta was high enough not to be a risk. Another thing to take in consideration are the blood clots, you want to make sure you walk quite a bit when youa re in the plane and that you drink lots of water... because it will help you not retain liquids, which has to do with the swollen feet and all that.

April 26th!! How exciting!! You will be a mommy by mother's day!!! :) Have you been shopping yet?? I have a MUST-HAVE list of things... and a NEVER-BUY one... hehehe... I have learnt a lot! Hehehe...

Keep us posted!!

Hugs!

No idea regarding the documents you need as I went trough the K-1 process over three years ago... but I am pretty sure the police certificates are valid for 90 days. Good luck!!

Hello

Did anyone travel from Lima to NYC using http://www.spiritair.com/

I couldn't find better price even with their Checked Baggage Fee of $15 for the first bag and $25 for the second.

How is the service?

Thanks

I have heard mixed feelings about Spirit..... I've heard it is horrible and I have also heard it is ok.

Besides paying for your bags, you also have to pay for snacks, food, juices, sodas, coffee and water on the flight and by credit

card.

There is no meal served on the flight....... There is no onboard entertainment if my memory is correct that people have told me.

If you check your bags at the airport it is $25.00 for the first and second bag....

If you check your bags and pay online it is $15.00 for the first and $25.00 for the second.......

If at all possible try go with LAN.....

I do not recommend spirit airlines, I have been traveling last May and I left Washington DC at 5pm on 24th, I was in Lima on 26th around 1 am, I missed my first anniversary because they were so not ready...broken planes...because of that I missed my flight, they gave us a hotel and instead of leaving Fl at 4pm the next day we left at 6pm...something like that. On my way back, similar story, plain was broken...again...and we were waiting 5 hours in Fl. NOT RECOMMENDED.

Also, you have a right only on bag, everything extra will be returned. :hehe: Good luck!

On all of this I have to add that you do not have a food at the plain, one bottle of water or cup of coffee cost $3, little snacks that you can buy for $0.25 cost $4, you cant pay with cash only credit card...it is horible....but maybe since then some things are changed...wait for another reply and see. Price is more convenient, but paying everything after all is not worthed you are overpaying everything...Good luck one more time!

I have flown both on Lan and American airlines from Miami to Lima. Lan by far was the best for comfort, I have to say it was the best airline I have ever been on, and I have done a bit of world traveling. I am taking delta to Lima this week and Avianca to Lima at Christmas. Has anyone flown on them?
